Service Intervals

What does everyone here do for their service internals mainly regarding oil changes?

Genuinely curious because the 2 year 18k recommended by BMW seems like a long time to go without an oil service, is that just genuinely me being paranoid (I usually change oil every 3/4k on performance petrol cars) or is the tech now sufficient to protect the engine/turbo even up to 200k+?

Obviously short term ownership won't matter, but for the long term if its worth doing an extra oil service it would be good to know.

I know the car has an oil sensor but does this look at the quality of the oil, or just adjust parameters on the ecu (regarding types of journey) to guestimate when it wants a service, and the sensor is more for quantity?

Thanks
