Noise under the hood...
Every so often when I go in the garage, I could hear a high pitched noises from under the hood of the my vehicle. The vehicle is locked and the alam is engaged. It sounds like the electronics are still on. I think it has something to do with system not shutting down properly. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong? I know have to press the start/stop button to kill engine and 1 more press to shut everything.
A few minutes ago, same issue with the noise when I went in the garage. I grab my fob and entered the vehicle. I pushed the start/stop button without depressing the break and the instrument panel indicates "Ignition is on." If I start the engine and shutdown by pressing SS twice, the noise goes away. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas as to what I'm doing incorrectly? Does this have anything to do with ASS or park assist? |

It's totally normal. As soon as you open the doors with the remote the electronic systems in the car are initiated including the engine control software. That's why you can hear this sound under the hood. After locking the doors the systems are still on for a couple of minutes or so until the car gets silent.

I totally agree that it should be normal for the vehicle's system to be on minutes after or even an hour after, but I hear the transformer whine type noise hours later and it doesn't go away until I restart the vehicle and shut off again.

That's a little weird. But you don't loose battery power? Maybe you should ask your dealer abou this.

If it was me, I'd be taking the cap off the expansion tank after say 30 minutes from switch off, and then see if it does it without pressure in the coolant system. If not associated with the coolant system, I'd guess it is something to do with the fuel system. HighlandPete |
