Irish F10 owners - 3M film covering

With all of the grit on the roads & reading some of the threads on here about stone chips I made some enquiries about the 3m paintwork film protector.

The cost for a customised kit for the F10 to cover the bumper, headlamps and the first 12 inches of the bonnet and wings plus the door mirrors comes to €450 incl VAT fitted (apparently this is a 25% discounted price).

Feels expensive to me and I was wondering if any of the other sooon to be
F10 owners in Ireland were interested in clubbing together to get a bulk discount? I think I'd be interested around the €350 mark.

I'd be interested but what do you mean when you say a kit?
Is this something you put on yourself like the ....er Bra.... that people talk about here or is it a spray on coating done by a specialist?
Is there a link you could send that explains the product?

It's an almost invisible film that is pre-cut to fit the contours of the specific car in the areas that I described. The edge is less visible on light coloured cars than dark ones and is deisgned to protect the paintwork against damage like flying stones.

Having seen the front of my new cars deterioriate in the past for these reasons I'm quite interested in applying some solution (definitely not a "bra") but I would like to get a better deal if possible.

You can pay extra (€250) to cover the entire bonnet (and wings I think).

This is the supplier...

couldn't you just use a clear vinyl product, its cheap and not hard to do it yourself ... you don't need a kit, the stuff bends and is like tape or food wrap

something like this, via google 'clear vinyl auto':

disclaimer: i have not used, do not intend to, so i am vouching for any product!

Kev,
I'm from Mullingar so I will call in to see Revolution when I'm passing their next. As it happens I passed their place today and wondered what their business was.

Have you asked BMW what they recommend?

Reason I ask is because my F10, bought 2 weeks ago, was a BMW Ireland car with 12,000 kms done and their wasn't a blemish on the bumper or bonnet - I guess they must have doctored it up for the sale.

I'll post again when I've been to Revolution.
