So with them, coupled with the increased residual value, meant on pcp at least, it was only £40 per month more for the 530d (and I was speccing manual on 520d). Which is why I went down that route. Unless it was for pure economy of course?

Love the Space Grey too. Excellent choice.
Tbh, I went into BM to buy a demo, then they told me I could have a new one for less money. This then escalated ( as it does with Man maths!) to my perfect spec car, and it was still cheaper than the demo due to the BM deals in september.

As a result, I never even looked at the 530d, however at 20k miles pa, the 55mpg plus of the 520d will be welcome, as my current E60 520d does 41mpg, not that this was even in the equation against the 530d !!

I do love the Space Grey, colleagues have black and white, so I thought I would go Space Grey again, and change the interior from black to oyster, as I have never had a light leather interior.

Ha ha.....I know what you mean, fortunately mines in/on the way to the UK so no adding stuff for me. If I'm honest, deliberately didn't order the reversing camera. I had it on my, now sold, RRSport and I didn't use it at all, but it's a cool feature all the same

Not long now then Beancounter!

Mine should be build confirmed any day soon so no more adding stuf, dealer estimates first or second week of December arrival which is good. Wasn't going to bother with the reversing camera as the graphic display is great but the Mrs will be glad of it, not that she knows I've added it.....or all the other stuff of I've snuck on since we initially placed the order!

I think it will be handy with the increased size over the 3.

Yay! So my car was built last week and is now order status 9610 which apparently means it's waiting at the port in Germany for shipping.

Dealer reckons the est. date for arrival in the UK is showing as the 9th Dec so I should be able to collect it 5-10 days from then. After a quick search through other threads hopefully that's a bit conservative so fingers crossed it will arrive sooner!

A couple I've seen have had theirs at the dealer just over a week from 9610, that would be good!

Good news B33M3R

My delivery date shortened once it hit the UK and the dealer had it on their logistics system. I think they will always quote you a generous time so as to 'under promise and over deliver'. Once they tell you it's with them, that's the time to ask them to pull all the stops out.

Yeah, I'm hoping that's the case. I also hope there's no crazy weather like when I was awaiting the arrival of my E90. I was due to pick the car up 23rd Dec in time for Christmas but that year '2010' there was severe weather which ended up closing the ports. Ended up getting it 11th Jan!

Great news B33M3R! It goes from the port in the UK to Doncaster, delivery wax removed, then goes on a logistics lorry ( transporter to you and I) to the dealer for PDI, polish and presentation

Mine arrived into UK on a wednesday, left Doncaster on the Monday, dealer Wednesday, PDI'd and picked up by us on the saturday, although could have been earlier, but did the whole family pick up thing

I'm excited for you !
Had my f11 530d MS for 6 months and 12k for much same reasons as you from e90 330i
Love it and is perfect for what I want but a small word of warning, don't be diss appointed when you chuck it down a B road full bore for the first time, it is a heavy car and what it gains on size and comfort over the 3 it loses in chuckability which is no great surprise....
Best toy? Toss up between the heated seats and MFID, a clear winner is the MFID which is brilliant !!
Enjoy.

Off to collect the new car

Just a quick one, haven't had a chance to look into the servicing costs on the 5.

I can get the 5yr package for £475 which I've had before but I'm only likely to have the car for 3yrs 30-36000 miles.

The 3 Series only had about two or three services in the three years I had it, one of them might have only been a brake fluid change if I recall correctly.

I'm considering not bothering with the pack and paying as I go, anyone know the rough service costs? I'm going to try and find out today at the dealer as well.

Probably between £200-£300 per service. If you only service it once your better off not getting it. Twice and you will probably be breaking even. At 3 years / 36k, you would probably be doing 2 services.

I don't know the answer, but is the service scheme transferable?
If so, then it will add value to the car, so could be worth doing anyway.

Yeah, it stays with the car. My 335d had it even though I was the third owner.

Well, collected the car today and what can I say. Absolutely chuffed to bits with it. It's in an entirely different league to anything I've had before and I've barely had a chance to have a play with it.

New idrive is amazing, looks beautiful and is very slick. The multifunction display is awesome, so glad I went for it. The two litre seems plenty swift enough, accelerates nicely and simply wafts along at motorway speeds with the 8 speed auto.

Thanks for the prompt responses in regards to the service pack. I've got sixty days to take it out so will have a proper check on prices. I expect I'll probably go for it like last time.

Just took a quick pic before it got too dark as today as it was all pretty manic. Will try to take some proper shots over the weekend and start a new thread!
