Has BMW changed its warranty policy recently?
Has BMW changed its warranty policy recently, where if work is done when 9 months remain under the factory warranty, the work done is no longer covered for another 24 months from date of completion; meaning, when the factory warranty is up, we’re not covered at all? Service manager stated so earlier today, but same completely disincentives quality workmanship. Nevertheless, if true, how would it affect vehicles that were previously covered by such extensions (i.e. Model Year 2011 vehicles). Thanks.

I always thought that work completed under warranty was warranted for the balance of the warranty period.

I just had some warranty maintenance done on my car. They had to change all 5 cameras in my car although I only complained about one. When I got to receive my car, the service manager assured me that whatever work that has been done on my car is covered for 24 months from the time it was done regardless of what the status of the overall warranty on the car is.

Same with VW, my sister had a new gearbox in a VW a couple of months before the end of the warranty period, she was reminded the gearbox was only covered for the remaining months, unless the warranty was extended. HighlandPete |
