My 2013 520 has flashed the latest sys software in hk dealer due to engine oil sensor ( oil level not oil temp) error

To my suprise
The response of my car improved
And oil temp reduced from 100 to 95 when the engine warmed up

This bugs me. Is BMW lowering the thresholds temperature in the software from 100 to 95 because there is a defect with the sensor not sensing 100 degrees?

In other words, BMW discovered a batch of its sensors would fail to properly sense 100 degrees. So, rather than replace the sensor, the decision was made to simply lower the temperature to where the sensor will work better.

Well, if true that could be a huge problem. The system was designed to run at 100. Reducing to 95 could have an impact on performance and/or economy.

I am very suspicious about this. Please stay abreast of any other issues that develop.

I don't think so.
according to the dealer, the senor functions normally but there's something wrong with the original system setting. If this is true, the improvement experienced is due to better tuning in the new version...
