Hey guys, new to bmw, new to the forums.

I've purchased a 2011 bmw 535i. I'll keep this short.

Problems with the idrive I've been facing:

What it does:
Auto switches to my music/multimedia folder. Gives me the option from CD/Multimedia/External/Tone. If I try to exit this and click radio through the idrive it will auto switch back to that folder. If I go to anything else, i.e navigation my screen will auto switch back to it. If i click any buttons,mode, main menu etc it auto switches to that folder. If I have click CD, it will auto play the first song, if I try to go to radio it will auto switch back to that first song and then go into the folder showing me those options. If I click multimedia or external it will behave in the same way.

Can't exit the screen, it will automatically go back to the same thing. Can't press any button to get out of it.

Apparently my idrive is up to date.

The CD button on your iDrive controller may be making contact always instead of only when depressed. If it is a 2011 with fewer than 50k miles, this is a covered item under the new car warranty.

Its not only cd it does it with, does it with multimedia, aux. everything but radio

I think that we are agreeing with each other...the forward left button on your iDrive controller gives you access to the features you mention, not just CD as the button's label implies. Have you made an appointment with the dealership for the controller to be replaced?

Oh. My mistake then. No, I will in the morning though but my car just hit 60k, apparently its still under warranty until 80k I've been told.

Is that 60K km? If yes, then your car should still be under warranty. Please let us know what you find out.
