M5 mufflers and tips??

Was thinking about putting the M5 mufflers and tips on my 550ix
m-sport...! Will they fit or is modification needed? Also does it need a tune? Is there a bigger difference then just looks wise? Appreciate all input guys thanks!!!

I'm thinking of doing the exact same thing. I'm sure someone will chime in soon enough regarding the feasibility of doing it.

It bolts right on to the original hanger points. However, you need the M5 diffuser as the muffler is moved towards the center. It growls at 3+ RPM and it doesn't drone at all.

Do you think there is enough room for a muffler shop to modify the outlets of the M5 mufflers to still position the tips to work with a diffuser made for a 550i? I too am interested in M5 mufflers, but am not really crazy about the M5 diffuser.

It's a simple install cut and well with all the hanger points the same.

The only time you'll need to move it inwards is if you're adding an M5 diffuser as well.

I have M5 mufflers on mine - I suppose you could work very hard to make it work with the factory diffuser, but I doubt you could do it cleanly. Four options: use M5 diffuser, cut and trim factory diffuser (hack), modify mounts to move mufflers outboard (would need to be a good fabricator/exhaust shop to accomplish w any accuracy), or try to move tips to stock location (tough to do with short length of pipe). The option of using stock diffuser isn't great either because it's slanted/angled, whereas the M5 mufflers / diffuser are not angled.

Where did you get the M5 mufflers and diffuser? I'm ready to move forward on this.

Just wanted to confirm, you installed M5 mufflers and left the 550i msport diffuser?

This is my preference.
