Long story short, my friend who was doing an oil change for my wife's car forgot to put oil back in the car and turned the car on. Motor is gone. Don't have the time to open it up and see the extent of the damage. The car is in pristine condition. It's a 2014 535xi.

If any of you are parting out your car, let me know. I need the motor. If not, please share some links here with me so I can locate an engine. Thanks.

Not to sound like an idiot, but are you sure the engine is in fact blown? Did the engine run for a long time without oil, as in for a couple of minutes? A few seconds, say around 10-15 seconds without oil shouldn't result in a completely blown engine unless it was redlined right away.

I've heard people buy crashed cars dirt cheap on copart. Like non-repairable or salvage titles.

copart got smart, and allowed general public to bid at auctions. with general public, the final bids went much higher than normally should. good for seller getting more money on useless junk. (still the decent auctions are for dealers only)

people think they get "a deal" with copart, but they do not. people knowing the secrets of the trade are complaining regular folks bidding without knowing drives the junk prices beyond logic.

if you are not in salvage yard business, most people loose money on copart
