Center dash vent stuck closed?
My passenger center dash vent is stuck closed and my AC is not working at all.
Sudden change today - car has sat for two days worked fine then. Drivers side vent is open and blowing warm air… it's 105 like everyday for another month… need AC! Any ideas? Tried EcU reset. Let car sit for half hour. Still nothing. Disconnecting the battery now for 20 minutes… |

Battery unplug didn't work. I unplugged the air vent controller harness from the center dash and plugged it back in. About 2 minutes later the passenger door opened and beautiful AC started flowing….
Not sure if it's related but when messing with evo install I accidentally hit the Ignition button prior to installing the hvac harness again … maybe that made everything go haywire. Hopefully it's not a damaged condenser unit… |

Car sat for two hours came back turned on no center vents at all. They were closed shut… did some research on an e90 forum came up with hit defrost switch then recirculation button and the vents opened up and I had full function again….
Does this imply me AC hvac panel is somehow faulty? Same error codes came back in the code banal. Also the AC is stronger in auto than max AC now |

Found something on the m5 board - turns out the blue lock harness is a little finicky on these cars. If the lock is not all the way open upon install on the back of the hvac panel it can create a loose connection.
Dismantled and reinstalled - all seems fine now and not throwing codes anymore. Good info if this ever happens to someone else I guess ! |
