How are your F10's putting up with the North East Snow?

Looks like there isn't much activity here in the Tristate area forum, so let's start!

2011 550i with Goodyear Eagle LS2 RFT's was a tank in the recent snow accumulation in NYC. I'm assuming it's because the tires were obviously brand new. Did not feel the slightlest bit of slippage. How is everyone else putting up? I'm interested in both RWD and X Drive set ups.

I'm planning on picking up some continental RFT snow tires this weekend. I'm almost convinced that I don't need them, but I don't want to get too cocky now. haha.

We had a a light snow on 12/12 10 weekend. I wasn't prepared. Had to clear rear window with a micro fiber cloth from my trunk(in addition to me defrosters). About 1/2 inch in my case. I drive the 535xi w/19" RFT's. I was nervous as HELL when I first started out. Only had the car about 6 weeks & no snow tires. Tried braking on the street when I first started out & the car slid a little (Oh damn). I still had to get on a highway to get home. Got on the Cross Island NB & only the middle lane was clear. 3-4 cars following a SLOW one, I went around to the left lane & never looked back. I made it ok, my confidence with the car increased as I drove. Staying to the middle lane at a "safe" speed, even passing others on the left when they were going to slow for what I knew I could do. About 19 miles in total with about 5-6 with the snow condition. All & all I was happy to make it to the garage safely!

I have a 535i and I just installed the 17 inch blizzak w70s with the rial rims from tirerack this morning.
They look much better than I was expecting. I'll take a quick pic and post it in a while.

No snow here in Stamford yet so I can't attest to their performance.

It did not come out of the garage for 4 days. We got 30 plus inches. Mine will suck with summer only tires. We got like an inch before the big storm and the car was a mess. My plan is once these tires are shot is to get snow tires for the stock sport package rims and get summer rims. I may do the stock rims black.

I installed winter tires on my OEM 18's. Blizzak LM60 225/50/18. Braking in light snow is excellent. Looks like tomorrow I might be able to put them to the test. If the snow exceeds 6 inches I'm not even going to bother.

I have blizzak LM 25 on 18" winter Borbet rims on my 535i. On wednesday 1/26, I drove on the NJ turnpike and the roads had not been plowed. The car handled relative well, but I wouldn't push it and defy the laws of physics. I could feel the car slipping on the exit 13 southbound ramp. I would have drove my explorer if it weren't in the shop. In my opinion leave the Bimmer in the garage until at least the roads have been cleared. I learned my lesson, I had to pass two salt trucks while they were doing their thing. I don't like the idea of my new baby getting pleated by whatever they dump on the roads.

I took delivery of my 535ix M-Sport the day we had the ice storm last week. Handled superbly and no slippage.

My 550 XI M Sport was fine with the stock all season tires and rims. I'll change back to my ACS rims with PS2 Super Sport NRF's in late March.
On another note I was a cheap MFer and didnt opt for the tire and wheel Ins and have bubbled/bulged 1 rt front OEM tire, 1 rt front Blizzak Snow tire, and 1 lf Pilot Super Sport since August 2011. Something needs to be done. Either fix the tires or fix the roads.
Since most were due to winter pot holes. I think im going to buy a replacement OEM tire from Tire Rack and buy the $20.-$30. Road hazzard Insurance ond put the protected tires on the front for winter. Im also going to hold off buying it till October to get the longest time on the Ins. No sence getting it now to have it sit on the shelf.
The real rip off is the manufacter has a 1 yr road hazzard warrantee on the tires but not on the tires that come with the car. Only on replacement tires. (Im calling BS on that!)
