Previously I had a VRSF DP and was unsatisfied with sound due to improper seating and consequently overwhelming gas smell in the cabin. I recently had another VRSF installed due to me going to a stage 2 tune and it's what was available to me. This time the guys from MP helped with the installation on their lift. The results so far have been way better exhaust tone and no smell in the cabin. The rasp is still there which is inherent from a cat free DP, but it's greatly reduce from a proper install. The gas smell is apparent if you're standing in the back of the car, but doesn't make its way in the cabin unless you've been idling for a long time in one place or in a covered parking lot. Even then it's not an intense gas fume.
Things to make your aftermarket DP life better: 0. LET THE CAR COOL DOWN!(you've been warned) 1. You need a lift or if no lift at least 3 willing people. Either way, you need 2 people minimum. 2. Disconnect the harness to the DP from the engine bay 3. Disconnect the top part of the DP from the turbo. 4. Loosen the lower part of the DP from the outlet to the exhaust connection. 5. Disconnect the rubber support mounts from the exhaust in the rear. 6. Have one person in the back with a crowbar applying pressure outwardly towards the rear bumper. 7. Pull apart OEM DP from exhaust, possibly spray something to loosen the connection as it may be stuck together, tap with flat hammer to help break connection(lightly tap) and continue pulling apart by hand. Request more pressure from the crowbar person if necessary 8. Any aftermarket DP first must be aligned from the top at the turbo without completely tightening down. (This is the most critical step to having a properly seated DP). 9. Next you almost need 3 people to this. Have one person at the back of the exhaust with crowbar pushing inward this time, a second person grabbing the exhaust and the the DP pushing them together and a third person tightening down. Now align and tighten down the top of the DP. 10. Next reconnect the exhaust rubber mounts. You may notice they don't line up anymore because you've pushed the DP all the way in like it's supposed be and by not allowing the rubber mounts to define how much it can go in. (Visit a muffler shop and have them re-weld a new support if needed). 11. Reconnect the DP sensors in the engine bay. Rant complete. Thanks to Alex at MissionPerformance

Happy to know it is much better now ... As I always said, if DP in installed correctly (and is not defective), you won't get gas smell inside the cabin

Well Mike, it's as good as it's gonna get for the VRSF. I'm wondering if the ER DP with its flex pipe helps with reduction of rasp. Is the flex pipe to help with fitment or does it function as a resonator?
