Question BMWNA extended warranty options for my F10

I have a 2012 BMW 535i that will soon reach 50K miles. I remember in the past that different dealership were able to offer different prices on BMWNA extended warranties for the same length and miles. I also remember reading that at some point, BMWNA changed the rules and you were no longer able to extend your warranty unless you brought your car in for an inspection, therefore eliminating the possibility of getting a better deal from someone far from you (I live in Miami, FL, so that pretty much leaves everyone north of South Florida out of the question). Is this still the case? If so, would it be possible for me to get a quote from someone outside of my area, then bring my car to my local dealership and get it inspected free of charge so that the warranty can take effect?

Ideas please? And I will also take recommendations as to who's offering the best extended warranty deals these days.

Thank you all in advance.

Call your local bmw dealer and talk to the finance department. they are the ones that usually handles this stuff. if your local dealer dont offer it, check a different dealer

EasyCare is pretty easy to deal with and I don't think there's an inspection requirement. I think they also throw in wheel and tire coverage for free too.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this as well.

I have a 2013 550 with about 36,000 miles. I've gotten a few quotes to add 4 years or up to 100,000 miles for anywhere from $4,000 to $6,000.

Also, when is the best timing to purchase such coverage? Just before warranty runs out at 50,000 miles, or well in advance of that date?

With the 550 and the non-recall "recall" that has taken place, an extended warranty seems like a REALLY good idea.

Bill

I went with Route 66, as per my Service Advisor's advice. Was about $2,600 which includes turbos, so that alone paid for that replacement. Is up to 100k miles and 5 years from now.

No pre inspection and they pay for repairs over the phone with a CC, no reimbursement. I also get roadside assistance and a loaner car (if I take it to a non-BMW dealership) reimbursement. Is pretty solid package.

Just got a quote from Route 66.

I can get 7 years past warranty (10/16) out to 11/2023 and 100,000 miles for $2,335, allegedly a factory like warranty.

Seems like a pretty good deal. What do you think?

There is an interesting Consumer Reports article: http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/m...game/index.htm

Quote:
When we asked car owners whose extended warranties had taken effect how satisfied they were with their experiences, the most satisfied were primarily owners of less-reliable brands, including BMW, Chrysler, Dodge, and Mercedes-Benz. Those are all brands that have had average or below-average reliability in our Annual Auto Survey. Interestingly, some of these brands also had the most expensive extended warranties, with Mercedes-Benz owners paying $2,200 on average, followed by BMW owners, at $2,007, and Chrysler owners, at $1,525.

I have a 2012 528i Xdrive with 48000 miles. I've talked to a local service tech and he was not of the opinion that the extended warranty is worth the money on this model. Opinion was that they are pretty reliable. Anyone have different opinion or experience with the 528i xdrive with the N20 engine?

This is what I have. The comparable factory warranty will be an additional $2500 IIRC from BMW.

Great thread. I'm at 46k and I'm going to need an extended warranty on my 2013 535i. Going to look into Route 66
