Business navigation to professional- Help please!
Evening All,
I am new to the site and forum so apologies from the newbie for perhaps not already found the answer elsewhere (and possibly posting in the wrong section!) I am due to collect a 2016 F11 at the weekend which currently has the business navigation. I’d like to upgrade this to the professional system mainly for the wider screen. Having seen a few videos on YouTube on swapping out the hardware I’ve already purchased a new screen, head unit and touch drive controller from eBay. However…with this being my first BMW I’d presumed this would be a plug-and-play swap. I’ve since read that some coding will be required? My questions are… 1/ is this plug-and-play or not? 2/ if coding is required how do I get this done? I’m handy with the tools but coding isn’t my area really, so am happy to pay for whatever needs to be done so that I don’t break the new car straight away! Thank you kindly for your help in advance |

You can code the bigger screen with Bimmercode. from 8.8 to 10.25 I believe.
Go in expert mode and code this CID_Apix_Mode = APIX2 CID_COM_Mode = MMI CID_COLOR_DEPTH = 24bit CID_DISPLAY_RES = 1440_540 CID_DISPLAY_SIZE = 10_25 CID_TOUCH = aktiv CID_HMI_TOUCH = aktiv DISPLAY_VARIANTE = breites_display DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION = 10.25_1440x540 DIMMUNGSVARIANTE = neue_dimmung What do you mean by head unit? Suggesting you do 1 at a time so if somethings not working you know what it is. Coding is really easy with Bimmercode. Just make sure your phone is on airplane mode so no incoming calls and you don't damage anything, just leave the bluetooth to connect to the obd2 port. airplane mode + wifi off. Here's the ob2 scan tool I bought. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076XVQMVS/ |

Bimmertech can code it, but you would need the enet cable, probably a usb-a to ethernet adapter, and they lean more on the expensive side.
https://www.bimmer-tech.net/ For 35 usd with the scan tool and bimmercode you can code the screen yourself, plus code other stuffs. Even if you go with bimmertech or another source, it's nice to have bimmercode for small tweaks. As for the head unit, I believe you have nbt, only reason to change it is to have nbt evo for carplay.
