Slammed the bottom of my car driving 50 mph
Hey guys, this happened last night while I was driving on a normal looking road. There was a drop on the left side of the road with a manhole in the center of the drop. I was probably going around 50 mph. I felt a VERY loud thump on the driver's side. When I examined for damage after, I saw nothing. No scrapes no dents. I am worried now about the alignment of the car or any damage to the frame. How likely is it for there to be damage after this?

Probably bent your wheel! Any vibrations or does the car pull to the left/right?

I have bent a wheel on a car before and it doesn't really feel like it. No vibrations at all. I am not sure if this is normal but the car feels like it is pulling to both sides. Again I am not sure if it is the road, tire pressure, or any other issues but it does seem to go both right or left even on a seemingly straight road. Steering wheel also does not turn back completely to the center after a turn. Any ideas on what damage I have caused?

Probably got knocked out of alignment spec (toe)?. Just get it aligned and maybe have that one wheel rebalanced.

Sorry to hear that, for sure you'll need alignment at least, but the fact that your steering wheel doesn't come back might mean steering rack is damaged as well, and that unfortunately will not be cheap to address, just like anything else with these cars. You know the drill, take in in, and hope for the best.
Hopefully it's just a scare, and alignment takes care of it for you, good luck. |

Balance damaged wheel , to make sure no cracks/bents and if any work needs to be done to it.
if all good align it (to fix your steering wheel position) if that dont help you might have a problem with steering rack or a steering arm is bent.(hope it dont get to this) |

I have had this happen in my E60 over some railroad tracks on a dark country road and I was 100% positive that some thing was cracked. But nothing was cracked or damaged it was the shock absorber just compressed to it's limit, that is what the shop to told me. sorry that this happend but I am sure everything will be fine, the engineering department for front chassis designed it to be tuff in the aspect that nothing will be cracked or bent just the alignment with will be out of tolerance, that will happen if you roll over a leaf wrong. that is where the engineering department failed us. Sorry for the rant but hope everything works out fine for you.
