Problem after problem

I've had my car since 20 August 2014, and It's currently at 31k miles. This car has went to the dealership a total of 21 times JUST FOR ISSUES (not including normal maintenance).
  • "No server" Screen shutting down and not turning back on even after restarting car x3
  • Drive train malfunction x1
  • Ticking noise coming from front axle x9
  • Random codes being thrown out x2
  • Adaptive headlight failure/malfunction x3
  • Harmon/Kardon speaker cutting in an out randomly and making skratchy noises x3

My car has spent all day today and all day yesterday being checked out by technicians for the ninth time for my ticking noise coming from the front axle. They still can't figure anything out which just makes everything even more frustrating. Anyone else having terrible luck or is that just me? I just want to go at least a month without the car having to go into the dealership for some stupid sh!t and staying there for days at a time.

Most likely. My car was probably built on a Monday morning at 8:00AM sharp. Tough luck.

I'm not sure about the Germans as far as work schedule, but I was a Supervisor in an UAW Automotive Assembly plant and could never figure our when my employees would show up for work. The first nice Friday in the late Winter/Early Spring and you would think everyone would call off work and low and behold, everyone would show up. Then some random ass Wednesday, no weather issues, nothing going on, and I would have a bunch of call offs. I never knew what to expect.!!!!

if you have a recurring issue like with front axle its better to reproduce it for them yourself... ask the advisor or tech to come along. Its more time consuming but still have you tons of hassle going back and forth

If you're tired of this car, you might research Lemon Laws in your state.

Didn't you have a thread about this happening to your buddy too? Same dealership or a different one? Crazy

But nope, mine hasn't been in once for anything since I got it 8 months ago, which could obviously change over the next 2ish years that I own. Let us know if they find anything, as mentioned above its best to take a mechanic for a ride so they can hear the noise. I know you're trying to sell the car as well, hopefully you can fix the issue and sell it in solid condition

I decided to keep the car and not sell it a while ago. Yes my buddy went through the same exact shit but a different dealership. The service manager the balls to tell me "thats how we diagnose cars here" Completely neglecting the fact his technician drifted my car and drove it fast through their own personal lot for no reason. I stated in the comments for the technician when checking my car: "Car makes super loud ticking noises when turning left and right at a 90 degree angle" I never said when doing a 360 'drift-attempt in a XI that doesn't even have enough power and will only cause tires to screech super loud'

Umm - if you screamed at the top of your lungs and used all the profanity you are using here I can understand why he walked away. A different approach on your part, perhaps a different dealer, and more time with BMW NA might yield better results.

My 2013 550 IX had the same right front noise. When flipping a u turn it was a tick or a grind for about four seconds. Loud too...I brought it to a dealer in Austin when I was there they were clueless and then back in Chicago they heard it loud and clear and replaced the right front axle. Problem resolved. I truly believe their are sub par dealers and dealers who have much more experienced technical staff than other dealers.

Trust me they love the warranty work. $$$$$$$$

Good Luck.
