Went with the stock setup 18" (style 281 18*8 et 30 f&r)

245/45/18 - Dunlop WS 3D (Dunlop WS M3 is also a very good choice too)

I'd go with some 18" OEM wheels.

I like the Dunlop WS M3, 245/45/19.
Do you guys think 19' snow tires would be ok as well, i may try to avoid buying new set of rims to keep the cost down if i can?

M3 19" is okay (if you must). But you may want to stick with 245/40/19.

Your proposed 245/45/19 will throw off the speedo by 3.6% difference. Meaning, your speedo will show you are travelling 2.2 mph SLOWER than it really is.

tires

Yeah you right i wanted to go with 245/40-19 just want to make sure they will go on no problem on the rear rims since stuck is 275/40-19.
and i can put none run flats on those rims right?

Rf or Non Rf ... your choice. The 19s have limited choices.

I know Nokian Hakkapeliitta R has 245/40/19 and Yokohama iG20 has 255/40/19.

Here a F10 with the Yokohama.

Add Mud Flaps

Mud flaps don't look to bad on the car & they also help protect the body. I have them on my F10 535xi .

winter wheels and tires

I ordered 18" wheels and the Blizzak RunFlat winter tires for my new 2011 550xi from TireRack. The tires came mounted, balanced, and with the BMW tire pressure sensors in place. (There are no 19" RunFlat winter tire available I could find.) The tires are phenomenal in the snow and I highly recommend them. They perform much better than the all season tires which came on the car.

If possible, you want to avoid using runflat winter tires. They are way too stiff for optimal performance. I purchased Blizzak LM60's and mounted them on my stock 18's. I went slightly narrower than OEM... 225/50/18. They're a relatively smooth ride considering they're winter tires....... You definitely don't want to pass 75MPH on these things though. The car remains controllable, but the stability factor is just not quite there. Throw non RFT's on and carry a few cans of "fix a flat" in the trunk.

Purchased them from tirerack and had them shipped to my local STS. They did a wonderful job... charged 25 per tire to mount and high speed balance.

Here is a crappy photo of them

I just took 18 inch winter rims off my E60 550i an replaced the 245/40/18 Dunlop Winter Sport 3Ds with 245/45/18 Dunlop WS M3s for my 550ix. (no 3Ds available.) These are my third set of Dunlop winter tires. Great in snow and ice. A little noisy after 15k. Last two sets were non RFTs, much better ride. I bought BMW mobility kit (compressor and can of sealant) for $150.
