Phone not connecting, f11 5 series iPhone 5s
Hi I am completely stuck as to why my system wont work.
I purchased a 2010 (october) 520d Touring M Sport last month. I purchased an iphone 5 snap in adapter (the media one) but I cannot get the adapter to do anything more than just charge the phone? I appear to be running: TX-003.004.031 Software in the car and it will not let me update it beyond this. I have a USB socket in the glove box which I tried connecting the iphone to via USB using its lightning cable (it is an iphone 5s) but the car doesnt even recognise it. The bluetooth and bluetooth audio appears to work but the car doesn't seem to think that the iphone exists. I have all my music on it. The car has professional navigation but I am unsure as to what media system it has onboard. It does have the simple basic stereo 6 speaker system. The BMW site lists the latest version as being: TX-003.005.006-003.004 (which is 3 versions newer than mine) but it wont let me update to it using the cars data connection. Any ideas? Is there anyway I can get the car to control the iphone? Other than just via bluetooh audio skipping track. Is there some kind of adapter I should be using to connect my phone or will this phone never connect via USB? |

Did you read this DIY ?
http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=882491 Edit. Just saw that it was not the Bluetooth you was struggling with. I know you need an adapter cable on the first f10s to control your iPhone, but I would assume the adapter would do the same. I select cd/multimedia on the idrive, then external devices and under the USB symbol I find my iPhones name. In there I can select what playlist to use, and I can select song by skipping track, or use the steering wheel controller wheel to scroll t hrough my selected playlist songs. ah thanks, I have had a good read through that guide. This issue is something more to do with the snap in adapter compatibility and iDrive than the bluetooth.
I was under the impression that my CIC iDrive would be able to control the iphone 5s via the adapter? Is it possible for it to work an ipod or 4/4s via the USB socket in the glove box? |

I have no idea, I use my iphone 5 like I described, for streaming music and hands free.
Just connect it through the center console USB with Apple lightning cable for music, and Bluetooth for the hands free. |

Hmm that's annoying. I don't have a center console USB. Just one in the glove box. My phone didn't even get. Charge when I connected it via USB to that socket in the glove box
