Dashboard Treatment
Just curious what most of you use on your dashboard and non leather interior parts. (Basically the vinyl stuff)
I like my dash with the OEM look. No shine. Not like the shine I use to give my 92 Integra way way back. However I feel it needs some sort of protection.

The modern materials used should require very little upkeep. I like to wipe down with a damp but thoroughly rung out microfiber towel. Mist it with your preferred general purpose cleaner if needed but I think you'll find just microfiber and water work well enough.

I use Leatherique Prestine Clean on all leather and plastic in my cars. It removes dirt very well and leaves a completely no shine non greasy finish once dry, just like a new car. I don't like the shine "Armour all" look. I do the full treatment on the leather usually once maybe twice each year.

Never used anything but lightly damp soft towels and always was perfectly happy with results.
Not sure if different products offer UV protection, but I always worry about how aggressive some of those might be. |

Einszett makes great products. Been using cockpit premium in every bmw I have ever owned. I'm going to try the ac cleaner they have also soon since I have a terrible smell when I first turn mine on

303 Aerospace UV protectant. Great stuff that leaves a non-sticky UV protected matte finish. It's safe for finished leather as well (so most of the BMW leathers except Merino).

+1 seriously best product out there. Leaves matte finish (original look) while cleaning and protecting. I use it on the speedometer shield, dash, middle controls, nag screen etc. never fails to amaze me. Been using 303 for 10+ years

Is the 303 Aerospace different than the 303 Automotive. It's been years ago, but I did use 303 in the past and believe it was the 303 Automotive. From what I remember, it was somewhat greasy. My memory may not be correct, but if someone can clarify, it would be appreciated.

just a damp cloth, nothing else. the last thing I want to do is apply or spray something on there that gives the dash board a shine.
probably just me but I equate shiney with cheap and a matt effect with quality. |

I use a dry microfibre for dust, a damp one if there are marks and every 6 months I wash all the plastics with Autoglym interior shampoo.

I use Swissvax Quick Interior finish and I've also tried Auto Finesse Spritz, no shine from either of those.

Blackfire cleaner on leather and all surfaces. I use light steam spray and wipe lens and buttons which cleans great! I work the cleaner on leather (wifes tan color in her audi) by spraying and spread by hand (gloves) then use steam with brush. Looks new and takes only 5 min per seat.
I use Blackfire protectant on dash and console. Its has a lot of UV properties and deepens the color without shine. It also has anti static properties so dust does not collect. Maybe U do this twice a year. Otherwise just damp micro fibre and wipe. US Steam has a nice $500 steamer that is great for many jobs and its a big time saver on the interior of the car. Works magic on the kids cars that have fabric seats and makes them near new again. Same for their carpets. Mine never get that dirty!!!!

Word of caution when using the steamer though is that if you do not hydrate or re-apply a conditioner to the surface of whatever you are steaming then it will reduce the longevity of the surface. The steam is essentially lifting the dirt, oils etc. out of whatever you are steaming. Thus, the importance of re-conditioning. If you are new to steaming then I highly recommend just testing it out on a small area of the car first. I have seen in the past on other websites of people using a steamer and having a bad experience: dried out leather, white residue, adhesive parts come loose, cracked trim etc. etc. I only use the steamer on the leather and do a fast pass and wipe quickly with a MF towel. Then follow up with a leather conditioner and let it sit for a few hours. |

I never use my steamer on any leather surfaces for fear of what you have described. I only use the steamer on carpeted or fabric covered surfaces.
