Bmw Recall Campaign No. 14v-176 Vanos Assy Bolts
i received a letter from BMW on Saturday the 7th of June .
this recall involves the housing bolts of the variable camshaft timing (vanos) adjustment unit . due to a quality issue with the aluminum bolts they may loosen over time and , under certain circumstances, may even break. as a result , the reduced engine power "safe mode" maybe activated . in some cases the engine cannot be started after switching off and less frequently the engine could stall which could lead to a crash. the letter also stated that at the present time there is sufficient parts to remedy this recall and BMW will notify owners of affected cars once parts are available. i did some further digging this recall affected 156,137 vehicles. 1, 3,5, 5gt,6,x3,x5,x6, and z4 models. * if this is in the wrong area feel free to move it* |

Just got that letter too, not sure when they will have parts in but it says they will give a call. Judging by the number of affected cars this might be a long wait. My warranty expires in 2 1/2 weeks!
