What is a 'grafting alignment?'

Hi,

Have a 2013 550xi, which my dealer is saying needs a special kind of alignment called a 'grafting alignment'...? Of course, it's over $250 v. the $159 regular alignment. Is there something to this claim, or are they trying to pull something on me?

Thanks,
Zack

Car is brand new unless you have a lot of miles.

Of course I googled it first and didn't come up with anything, which I why I'm posting here... The car has 6k, but is definitely pulling. He said it's a special alignment machine, etc, etc.

Thought alignment was warranted for 12k or 1 yr? YOu prabably could find out where they are going to send the car for the alignment and go there yourself. A lot of dealers will send vehicles to a tire specialist

Alignment / balance warranty is 2k miles according to the warranty book. I know they have the machine, I've seen it in the window and have gotten the BMW printout from the last time they did it (around 2k miles). I have had generally bad luck with alignments at tire shops in the area, unfortunately.

So I guess it's just a factor of the amount of labor they are putting into the job then.

Shouldn't cost that much unless you have that one steering option.
