OFFSET QUESTION FOR 550I/Xdrive WHEEL SWAP

Anyone know if there are offset issues were I to swap my stock M sport xdrive rims in the rear (19X8.5) with 35 mm offset for stock M sport rims off a 550i (19x9) with 44 mm offset given fact that I want to put 285's on rear? Amazingly, my dealer not very helpful here.

So you want to put on OEM staggered 19", right?

That's not a problem, but on the x-drive you might want to stay with the OEM tire size, 245/275. And 19x9 is narrow for a 285 tire.

I am hoping to save some money by purchasing used OEM M sport rear rims off a 550i and putting them on my xdrive. Given the different offset, will this work? Do you know if the Europeean xdrive models have a different offset when they are sold as a staggered setup? 245/275 would still be better than the 245's I am running now, but I do not know if rims off a 550I non xdrive will work.

550i xdrive has 8.5 33et all around
550i M sport has 9 44et rears, will retract 5mm inside compared to the 8.5 33et. No problem at all, plenty of room inside.

Continental ContiExtreme Contact DW 285/35 in rear will fit on 19X9 with 44mm offset? Tire rack has 9" listed as optional rim width for this size tire (interestingly, other brands of 285 require 9.5" rim). Went to 1010tires.com and plugged in numbers for 255/40 (19) fron and 285/35 (19) rear. Website says difference is 0.67% (below the magic 1% number I have seen quoted). Any thoughts on this setup? I have read that stock xdrive outside US comes with 245/40 (19) front and 275/35 (19) rear. Website has this as a 0.53% difference which I assume is negligible (0.14%)?

Continental ContiExtreme Contact DW 285/35 (19) has 9" rim listed as OK when I looked up this size on the TireRack. Interestingly, some other 285's had minimum rim size listed as 9.5". I was also surprised by fact that salesperson I spoke to at Tire Rack, "Wes" stated that TireRack refused to have anything to do with any staggered setup on an xdrive 550 because he stated that car not made to handle it (even after I told him cars outside US offered as staggered from factory). He said any staggered setup should come from BMW or warranty is toast.

Really?? There are plenty of people running staggered setup on x drives without issues. As long as the rolling diameter is within spec. I'm sure BMW can still be dicks about it.

I'm going to make sure dealer signs off on whatever I do. Going to go with Dinan S2 when weather improves and don't want them to use wheels as an excuse if something goes wrong after Dinan.

Ok. Let me/us know what happens. Some people do have issues with their transmission in the F10 not related to tire or wheels. I have spoken to a few people running staggered on different series of x drive BMW's obviously including the F10 and they have no issues..

The offset is 19x8.5 ET33 and 19x9 ET44 both US and Europe.
