I can't wait to see one of these in real life. Might have to drive up to the dealership to see one.

Congrats OP.

Thanks everyone! He's pretty excited. He got rid of his Mercedes CLS55 AMG and came back to BMW!

He didn't want the Sport Pkg because of the Summer Performance tires. He had those on his CLS55 and he was tired of changing to snow tires each season.

Thank you! I don't live with my parents, but we are a big BMW family, and yes, we love Titanium Silver!

Hey Keith...no, I haven't driven it yet. My father just picked it up last night and drove from the dealer to his house. I went over to program his garage door opener. The car is beautiful. It has the LED angel eyes and the LED tail lights...very cool!

I'm the only one in the family with an M...I drove the X5 over, so the M stayed in the garage.

He doesn't care about the front plate. I, on the other hand, don't run with a front plate. I've been lucky lately with no tickets.

Thanks. I know, neither of us are too crazy about the wheels.

I don't know yet...I'll have to ask my father how it compares to his CLS55.

I have to agree with you here, the wheels remind of the base 335 wheels (when you don't get sport package)

And TX, like IL, requires front plates AND makes us pay full sales taxes on the car on every lease (even if the lease was for one day). Then you pay taxes on it again when if you buy it at the end of the lease. All this with after tax dollars!! Triple taxation.

I agree. The Sports package on the F10 is a joke and a rip off. Why even call it a sports package when you have to add the pricey Dynamic handling on top of the sports package in order to get any performance features.

Sport Package $2,200
• 19" Light alloy W-spoke wheels style 332-with performance run-flat tires 19
• Sports leather steering wheel Sports leather steering wheel
• Multi-contour seats Multi-contour seats
• Increased top speed limiter Increased top speed limiter
• Shadowline exterior trim

Dynamic Handling Package $2,700 (Requires Sport package)
• Adaptive Drive

OP, congrats to your dad on his new F10. They are beautiful and pictures really don't do them justice.

Congrats to your Dad, I hope he enjoys it.

I think what the poster was implying with the Sports package is that some items many (but not all) refer to as "required" items for a 550 are missing. The Sport package itself adds driving dynamics by raising the top end speed limit which is pretty dynamic. It also adds some nice items like shadowline, contour seats are really nice and sports leather steering wheel. Also, without the Sport package one cannot get the Dynamic Handling Package and Integral Active Steering thought by many to increase the performance capabilities.

I think your Dad should order the vehicle that pleases him most, he is paying for it and driving it. In the end the only thing it affects is IF and WHEN he sells it.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. The one thing my father doesn't like about the 550i is that is looks kind of normal, especially when compared to his old CLS55.

Here are a few more pictures in the daylight:

Looks great, especially from the back...but those rims are the reason it looks bland, for an older guy there has to be a better oem choice. ...or if he was into his cls55 and is ok with a little "bling", maybe HRE p40's wouldn't be out of the question?

I agree, the 550i looks great from the back, but the wheels look very bland. Actually, they don't look so bad in person. There weren't any other OEM choices, besides the Sports Pkg wheels, which he didn't want. He'll probably keep the OEM wheels...for now anyway.

Have you driven the car yet? Could you please comment on the ride quality and the handling since it doesn't have the Dynamic Handling package with VDC. I test drove the 550i with VDC and a 535i without VDC and I could hardly tell a noticable difference. Some magazine reviews state that the normal suspension setup is not class leading and not as good as the Jaguar XF.

Sorry, I haven't driven it yet. However, the local dealer is hosting the Ultimate Drive on June 28, and I'll be driving their 550i. I might be able to offer an opinion after then.

I think those wheels looks "sportier" than the sport package wheels on the 550.
