528 vs A6 3.0T? Which would you go with?

Looks like I may be trading in one of our vehicles for either a 528 or an Audi A6. Seems the pricing of an A6 3.0T with premium plus pkg, 19" sport pkg, cold weather, and side assist is only slightly more than a 528 with premium, tech, premium sound, cold weather, and comfort access.

Pros of 528: better gas mileage, free service, comfort access, premium audio
cons: 17" wheels, not as fun to drive

Pros of A6: 3.0T, better styling (subjective), sport pkg, quattro (not that I need it)
cons: no free service, no comfort access, normal audio system

Given this info and given this is a F10 5-series forum, would any of you pick the A6 over the 5-series in this situation? The car will be used mainly for commuting as I have the 1M for fun. But having extra power is always good IMHO even if gas mileage suffers about 20%. Or not?

ud go with the 5 series, but would lean more towrd the 535i if you can. I'v always been a bmw boy even as a kid growing up. So you could say im subjective lol. the a6 is nice but the 5 series wins for me. i also looked at the a6 when getting my 535i and choose the bmw.

Punjabi Munda - YOu are comparing non-sport with sport, but I would still go with the F10. Newer, nicer looking and always a hell of a lot more fun to drive!

like you said, prob a 5 series since this is a F10 forum. haha. but since you have a 1M, lets go with the A6 to switch things around.

You're going to get a biased answer on this forum bro. I'm an audiophile, so I would tell you to go with the car that has Premium Sound. The MPG of the N20 is amazing, but don't cheap out on the Sport Package. That N20 has potential, companies are releasing tunes and parts for this motor. You can achieve the same performance as a 535i with a quick tune.

The A6 3.0 and the 528 are not even in the same ballpark. The proper comparison is with the 535i. The A6 is a very sexy, sporty, powerful car, with very good technology. The 528 does not really compare with respect to performance. Now, the 535i is a good match. I was going back and forth between a 535i and an A6, and chose the Bimmer because it just felt better and drove better (although not faster).

I appreciate all the feedback thus far. I guess I should not be surprised that every reply thus far has the person picking the 528 over the 3.0T A6. For those that suggest getting the sport package, it is not worth it to me in the 5-series at this point as it is quite the costly option and I do have a 1M for that sort of thing. 528 with sport package and the other options = same price (or more) than A6 3.0T Prestige. Doesn't make sense to me. 535 similarly equipped as A6 3.0T Prestige is $5k more. Not sure if it indeed a 5k better car. I have never owned an Audi and have owned 4 BMW's so please don't think I am an Audi fanboy. I think I may opt for a lightly optioned 528 (no comfort access or folding rear seats, etc) with just the essential options or go for the A6. 535 is a no as is 528 with sport package. I will go check both cars out again in the coming weeks before coming to a decision!

For those that own a 5, did you get the folding rear seats and if yes, do you think it has come in handy? I have found in BMW's I've owned that the folding rear seats have lots of rattles especially when the music is bumpin. As a side note, my 1M has a LOT more rattles when the music is played loud than ANY other BMW I have owned.

I had the same decision in front of me... the $6,000 Bang & Olufson option killed it for me. It sounded great, but not $6k great.

I really, really liked the A6 3.0t. But the F10 was not only a better deal, but held up in every other aspect feature for feature. You can't go wrong either way.

Between a 528 and an A6 3.0???? Seriously? You'd be crazy to not go with an A6. It smokes the 528 in every way.
Between a 535 and an A6, that is a tougher question.

Just flip a coin and call it done. Doesn't Bang & Olufson use Phillips electronics? IMHO, the A6 looks dull w/o the S-Line package. If the 5-series non-M is cheaper than this A6, use the savings to get Hamann lips, staggered wheels, and slam it.

Lol. No mods on the 5 or A6. 1M is the project car (already have KWV3, Berk mids, Eisenmann Race, spacers, blacked out IND pkg). I think right now I have decided it will either be an A6 prestige (which has S line) or a 528 sitting on their lot (premium, tech, heated seats, BMW apps, sat radio). Still waiting to hear back from the dealer on a few things plus it has been months since I compared the two back to back.

Driver's race. Could have gone the other way. Both cars times are so close that it pretty much comes down to the driver, launch, etc. Back in summer when I had my 997 turbo in for service, I had an A6 3.0T (2010) as a loaner. Beat a Charger Hemi (MT) twice at the light from 0-60 (speed limit 55). Was fun that's for sure!

Well, technically I wanted an A7 in Graphite but that was even more $$. What a fun decision to have!

I might go for the a6 over the 528.. But take a 535 and 550 over any a6 any day of the year!! Something about a 4 cylinder 5er doesn't feel right to me.. That and I hate the look of the exhaust haha

Was actually considering the a6 before deciding on my 535. I was severely disappointed in the drive and feel of a fully loaded a6. Interior felt cheap and drive was bland in my opinion.. Also, the a6 in
Canada costs way more than my 535! And the dealers weren't even willing to budge in terms of discounts!!!

If that's the case, it's a no brainer going with an A6 V6T S-Line (IMHO, It's pretty nice).

Looks like you've made your decision, you just need us to help you push you over the line. So here so you go: A6 V6T S-Line > 528i No M-Sport! This is coming from a guy who lives and breathes BMW.
