Most people will just vinyl wrap it, might want to look into that. Cheapest and easiest way to get them black.

Don't plasti dip for christs sake. Several vendors who sell paint matched replacement. Do it right or leave it chrome.

I vinyl wrapped mine as at the time, I could not find a vendor who had them already color match painted. Since my car is Jet Black, the vinyl was an easy match. I would definitely suggest to go with buying a painted, color matched version for your car. The following is just one of several options: http://ind-distribution.com/ind/cate...ci-side-marker

i wrapped mine with the left over from my shadowline trim kit and i want to say it's been more than 2 years and it's holding up. hasn't faded nor has it peeled up. also my reflectors are wrapped with the same vinyl as well and no problems with them either

IND Distribution offers a replacement piece in matte or gloss black, as well as one in any body paint color. I chose the matte black, a little pricey but they use an original BMW part so fitment is 100%

Thanks, everyone. I will look into vinyl or just replacing the piece to match the front glossy grille.

After posting this thread. I went to the store and found a matte dupli color custom wrap. I'm NOT happy with the results. I will have to peel it back to chrome. It's grainy, not smooth around edges.

Yeah, I didn't trust my wrapping abilities at all so I just bit the bullet and went with IND. Any painted item they've sold me has been perfect (side markers, reflectors, etc)

At the end of the day I decided to leave mine chrome.

I think having those black on a white car sticks out too much. But it totally makes sense for darker colors.

Too bad that there isn't a cheaper alternative to what IND is offering.

When wrapping the reflectors, did you remove them or wrap them installed? I've been thinking about buying the painted ones, but have considered painting them myself as well. I haven't wrapped anything before, but it seems pretty cheap, and I like the fact that I would have plenty of material to learn with and obviously, the process is reversible should I mess anything up. My car is Jet Black so the wrap should match fairly well.

I just wrapped the fender trim gloss black on my Med Blue F11, think it goes well with the high-gloss Shadowline trim.

Same here, white car etc... though I do get the urge to have them color matched everyone in a while .

Nope, did them on the car. My car is JetBlack too and you can see the vinyl is pretty close to matching.

I did remove the reflectors, it's easy done in a few seconds with a pry tool.

I removed them using a pry tool, broke a clip on one in the process, bought a new one for $35, then wrapped and reinstalled. Going on 2 years without any issues.

vinyl or use autodip paint. autodip is similar to plastidip but it has a glossier finish in one can.
