Alextremo when you gonna upgrade to the stage 3? I heard a member on another forum claiming that the dealer dyno'd it and it put down 540whp(I think he is about 100whp short of that) but I thought once you got it you'd shed some light on how big a difference there is. If it's a big deal I'll probably drop the 4k to get up to stage 3 since everyone else seems full of BS and shiv ain't gonna do anything for the N63 for a while.

I will happily drop the coin if it is even 500whp but I have seen a lot of Dinan claims on other cars that were not close. Middly - put that thing on the dyno pls

Haven't really thought about it. I'm not really interested in their mufflers - was actually planning on keeping the OEM catback with the AR DPs but your dyno, and no O2 sim solution are keeping me on the sidelines for now so I'm running stock exhaust. I'm sure the Dinan mufflers don't flow that much better than stock, but not sure if they'd do stage 3 without exhaust. I might ask now that you bring it up.

I don't believe that dyno # is accurate, he hasn't posted the results or a baseline so color me skeptical until we see more data. Hell, even Dinan only markets it as a 10hp bump over Stage 2...

Not sure about others, but I think you're right that Vishnu is a ways off. Shiv's got a nice opportunity with the single turbo kit he's testing and I'm guessing that will take up his time for quite a while.

If you are going to get the flash and you have any luck it shouldn't be 4k - I got mine for 25% off. Dinan was having a 15% off sale and my dealer threw 10% on top of that. You just have to root for the Ganassi cars in Grand Am so they'll run another sale

Actually, funny you say that....I found a place 2hrs away from me that does a 4-wheel dyno.

Im going to make an appt in the next month to get one done because it makes me wonder what my car is putting down...

I was told it's cat back. Sound is ridiculously good. I'm not a technical expert, so I'm sure I'm using the wrong terminology, but the sound changes depending on speed. It sounds kind of like there's a valve that opens and closes depending on how much throttle you apply. Cabin noise is fairly quiet. Rumbles when you're going slowly but normalizes when you're going fast. If you floor the gas when you're getting onto the parkway it rumbles again.

As for the Stage 3, they say it provides 10 extra HP when done along with the exhaust. It definitely feels faster than the stage 2 (which was already ridiculously fast), but that could just be my imagination because it sounds so friggin fast now! I honestly can't imagine that the M5 is faster than this. Torque is sick too. You can be rolling along at 75 mph and feel like passing anything on the road and, without even downshifting (I have a 6mt) you just step on the pedal, the exhaust rumbles, and you could be inside the front seat of the car in front of you in a tenth of a second.

My bad. I looked underneath this morning and it appears to just be new mufflers.

I think they stick out so that you can read the "DINAN" etched into the tops of them... When I get the m-sport bumper and m5 diffuser put on, I think it won't stick out as far.

Jordan..thanks for the write up and I also feel that the Dinan S3 is much more than 10HP. As you mentioned, the torque is just unreal..I knew you would be happy with it.

In regards to the Dinan Exhaust, when I spoke to Scott at Dinan he mentioned that they have some fancy electronic valves inside the mufflers to do just what you are talking about so you are correct about that...

Wow you're in CT? I'd love to hear it sometime in person and maybe go for a ride as a passenger if you're up to it. I live in the Hartford area and have a DG Msport 550i. I'm still getting used to the power stock and can't imagine what the car feels like with these mods.

Well, it sounds like I should just stick with my stage 2. My Eisenmann Race exhaust can't be considered enough for the stage 3 tuning, when it's only axle back. Doubt it would make any real difference on my car

Good News. I have an appointment to get my car on a dyno on March 24, 2012. I will advise on the numbers.

I just spoke with the guy at Classic BMW (Plano, Texas) regarding the Stage 3. He said that merely having an axle back exhaust WILL make the Stage 3 worth upgrading to.
I'm will to give it a shot, provided that the cost is not too much. I'm currently at Stage 2, so I'm guessing a couple hundred bucks (plus, install cost)?

I may go ahead and have the car dyno'd while I'm at it.

$200 bucks. They shouldn't charge for install if they already charged for stage 2.

$281.48 isn't bad for a 10hp gain I guess. However, I just really want to know if there REALLY is a noticeable difference. I mean, the Stage 2 is insanely fast. Can it really get better for the F10 550i engine?

I think that by paying it, you'll feel faster... whether you are or aren't!
