Question Euro Light Switch

On my E92 I was able to get the euro switch which gave me the rear fog option. I've seen post with members from Europe where the rear fog is standard on thier switch. Is it possible to order that for the stateside F10's?

Here's a link of what the switch looks like on nightcreature's thread. Look at his switch.

What else do you need apart from the switch?
Don't you need to put in the wiring and the light itself?
I would be interested too.

I don't think you need any additional wiring. I didn't when I had my E92.

That part is for cars without xenon lights. Hence the hight adjustment wheel for the head lights.

In the page link above, there are separate part numbers for xenon and non-xenon light version.

Really? So I can just hook up the new switch and you get rear fog lights right away? Now, I am definitely interested.

This conversion worked for most BMW's.

The US version lights are used for what I think is the "Assisted Braking" option where they light up on hard braking. Non-US versions use them for fog lights

Unless something else has changed, you would only need to purchase the part pictured in the above posts, or the equivalent for the F10...

But F10 no longer uses this "brake force" display. Instead, it is using a new "adaptive brake light" where the brake light would pulse rapidly on hard braking. This should be a lot more effective in warning the cars behind; the so called "brake force display" in older models is hardly noticeable. OTOH, it may mean uncertainties as to whether the rear fog wiring is in place or not.

I don't think we have the adaptive brake light on the US. I thought is was illegal or something.

If you are referring to the pictures of nightcreature's car then it's for the driver assistance buttons. Things like lane change warning etc. If the car has none of these the slot is omitted.

Guys here are links to what you can probably do. The E92 M3 guys found several solutions including buying a euro switch and exchange it with the one they had, or fiddle around with the original switch they had on their car to make it possible to switch the rear fogs. I have no idea if this works on F10's but I'm sure someone here would give it a shot and try.

Look at those links, there is more if u guys search for it...

I'm looking forward to your report since this would be a must have upgrade for me if the conversion is pain free.

It's a lot easier on the E92 & E90's because you can just modify the current switch. With the F10 the button is not even there to mess with.

I'll go with the the dealer this week to look into buying the switch and get back to you guys.

Ditto - I made this mod on my E92 quite easily. Looking forward to your report LACSTER. It's nice to have an extra switchable light in the rear to flash at those morons either tailgating me or driving with their high beams on. Not sure which I hate more.

Looking forward to the Jimmy Bond rear facing machine gun option. Available in 2012 model year, I hear.

You don't have rear fog lights in the US?

If so: Didn't know that. Those things come in handy a few times a year in our country. Not for yourself(doh) but for the cars approaching you from behind in thicker fog.

My thoughts exactly. I almost never use them, but sometimes they come in handy.
I do not think fog is a specific European thing
