I currently own a 2011 550i dark graphite 1 (A90) I wanted to upgrade to the m sport kit however I wanted to know if the original paint was still available since I wouldn't want to mix with the dgII (B90) mix. My understanding is the plant was shut down, however I'm not sure if production has resumed, it's a bit of a concern especially if anything were to happen to the car and the dealer wouldn't be able to do a proper paint match. Any insight would help a lot since my dealer (bramen) seems to be lost.

I don't have first hand knowledge, however I've seen posts saying that the DG1 is available and has been throughout.

I've also read months ago that the plant in Japan was back on line, I think in May and that they're adding production of the Xirallic pigment to a German Merck KGaA plant by year end.

There's also been speculation of the original DG returning.
