Checking oil levels...Newbie here
I had the oil changed when I first bought my 2011 535 with 75k miles. 3 months later I’ve put about 1500 miles (~500 miles a month).
The last couple of weeks the weather has averaged low 60s. I wanted to check my oil level and did performed the vehicle oil status. After several attempts and waiting +10 minutes each time have have not yet been able to get an oil status?! 1. How long does it take for the car to check oil levels? 2. Does the car have to be driven or stationary? 3. Is there an oil dip stick? I can’t seem to locate one! Thanks. |

I'm in an 2011 build and I just bring up the screen while driving, reads the level.
My car must be hot and/or driven about 15 minutes to get the reading while on the move. |

Thanks for the video. I’ve done this procedure a couple of times. Video: Is the car running, driving, etc?
Tried again for 20 min. Warmed car, shut off car, tried when car was running...still trying to measure oil level. Do I have to reset the oil sensor? |

I drove around for a good 15-20 minutes this morning. Nothing is reading.
How do I rest the oil service indicator? When I check the service info it does say it needs oil service due on 10/2017, a red check mark. That is when I bought the car and had the oil changed. Okay the oil change wasn’t from a dealer but a Oil Can Henry’s place in SF. It also says that I need general maintenance service... |

They did change the oil and filter. I’m not sure if they reset the oil service notice.
Can someone provide instructions on how? I thought it’s thru the odometer reset button? |

Our 535 is primarily used in the city and when I’ve tried checking the oil level it’s always been driving in the city.
Okay! Sunday morning I decided let’s run some errands out side of San Francisco. Get on the freeway! My wife is driving and I’m with our infant daughter in the back....the oil level finally reads OK! and shows oil level between Max/Min. I guess you really need to drive the car on the freeway to get a true reading!!! Wierd but good to know. Thanks everyone for your input. |

So happy the oil monitoring works. FYI I was so happy I almost ran into the car in front of me...
