Sorry to hear that, seems to be a few scammers coming along recently. Ive been asked to send payments as gifts (twice this week alone), but I'll typically add the 3% fee to my payment and send for goods/services because 3% is better than getting ripped off completely.

Did you at least fund the payment with either your credit card or bank account? If so, you have a small chance to get the money back by filing a dispute with your CC company or bank. They typically don't get involved with the whole "gift/services" debate. But if you paid using an existing paypal balance, you basically have no options because they won't reverse money sent as a gift (unless you lie/commit fraud by saying you sent it to the wrong person or that you didn't send the money)

Anyways, good luck and I hope you can get the money back. In the future, always insist on a "business" transaction

WOW, its such a shame that there are scammers lurking on this site... I also ran into a couple of shady guys here wanting payment as a gift, non paypal... of course sale didn't go through because I refuse to use anything BUT paypal, WITH a detailed invoice.

I don't want to dig up a bunch of info on this guy, as I don't know the full story, but if you go through his previous posts that go a few years back he lists another phone number. He always puts it in threads where he actually wants to buy something, so it may be more legit (or it could be very outdated). I searched it and it came up with a name and address in Brooklyn, so feel free to do the same (but use at your own risk, may not be valid anymore). All of these posts make reference to Alex, which is a name that comes up when you run the phone number. Hopefully this helps
