I have one of those OBD2s. I ran it on my Audi Q7 when I had it before my 5er.

The app is downloaded from apple or google store - you need to choose the correct OBD2 connection for ios or android when you buy the thing.

the app connects via blus tooth automatically, no need to pair them.
you then select what car you have, this will work with all models from 2011 apparently and the ActiveHybrid models aren't on the list

so i chose the 535i with 326 bhp - i think this must be with the MPPK. so far this just appears to calibrate the read outs for the max bhp and torque - same as the sport displays in the idrive menu.

there are the following menus:

trackdrive
G- drive
power drive
fuel drive
test drive
core drive

Track drive:
Similar to the m lap timer from the free app. this will record through the iphone camera out of the wind screen if you set the phone up so it points out the wind screen.

G - Drive:
shows max G force when driving

power drive:
same as sport displays - shows power and torque values

Fuel drive:
shows consumptions

test drive:
you can check accelration times - you set the speed and it records the time from 0 -60 or 0-100 whatever.

elasticity:
in gear times - 30-70 mph etc.

braking distance: 60-0 etc.

1/4 mile: times or 100m or 1/8 mile etc.

Core Drive:
this displays the majority of data
lambda
intake temp
boost pressure
rpm

to name a few - it only opens when the app is connected to the car - so cant check whilst i am typing.

the app only connects when the engine is running - so in my hybrid - when running ubder battery power there is no connection!

you can also send data to the HUD - which i dont have, but i think this is only the retrofit accessory HUD not the factory fit projection display HUD. so i may look into this accessory.

one thing that would be good would be to get the app to display in the idrive screen through BMW connected drive - i tried, but doesnt work. that would be the

i have seen on bimmertech do a retrofit on a way to get the iphone to mirror onto the idrive screen - which would work i think.

i currentrly just have a magnetic holder fro my iphone which fits into one of the air vents, so i need to take my eyes off the road to read the screen.

BMW recommend the 'click and drive' holder - so may look into the cost fo this also.

really just a toy that i probably didnt need especially for £249!!

but always nice to have a few toys in the car.

I am in the process of installing the bimmertech mirroring kit and also planning to get the Drive Analyser, will let you know once tested, my iphone is always placed in the media cradle in the centre console, I am not a big fan of having phones on the dashboard, so with mirroring I should have all the information displayed on the i-drive.

Yes post here when it's up and running. Getting it on the idrive display should have always been the intention, at least through the apps on connected drive like the M lap timer

That's what I posted on the other thread. Maybe because it's a BMW product?

I did see the video on the mirroring kit...that was pretty cool. Pretty much just like mirroring with your TV

0-60mph in 4.70 secs !!

Check this from the analyser.

Do you think this a credible time?

Active hybrid quoted 0-62 mph is 5.9.

I have the JB stage 1 with BMS intake and supersprint exhaust.

This was only 1 run I did just now.

Clearly another device is needed to further analyze results produced. "M performance analyzer's analyzer"

On a more serious note, that does indeed seem to be impressively quick.

That's why I'm questioning it.

Reducing a cars 0-60 by 1.2 secs is massive, therefore I understand why your questioning it...

What is your cars stock power output, how much additional power have your mods added and how does this compare to say a 550's power output and stats. Might provide a benchmark for assessing how realistic this figure is

the 550i is quoted for 0-62 mph 5.0 secs at 407 ps and 600nm

so the 4.70 is no way achievable imo with what i have at the moment.

jb stage 1
BMS intake
super sprint exhaust

are the mods i have and dpnt forget the extra weight of the hybrid battery, although it does give extra power for a total output of 340 bhp, so in theory the car could be pushing close to 400 bhp with the mods mentioned above.

obviously the only true way to tell is on the dyno, but there isnt any where i live.

so Hasser, it stops reading when you're stopped like at a stop sign or just sitting in idle because your car's a Hybrid?

Only connects when the engine is running, so as its a hybrid, the engine shuts down so no connection.
At idle it still reads.

So I suppose will be true for cars with start/stop. When at lights and engine stops, connection will be lost

Having checked the weight differential on your car vs a 550 it seems highly unlikely that those stats are correct. I'd be going back to BMW on that...

The my obd2 with the torque app and the track recorder add on does the exact same thing as this does for $20. It doesn't say Bmw on it or have the Bmw logos and such. The my obd2 and torque app can also check and clear engine lights.

The mirror kit sounds cool if you can control your phone and all its functions from the car controls and not the phone screen.
