I would think that is incorrect. We shall see soon enough.
Hope that works! If does,I must get an M5 grille on my F11.

That's just the pre-LCI gloss black grill. I was asking for the double slatted gloss black grill without M5 badge. But thanks anyway.

There are only 2 sets of black grilles available, none of which support night vision.
51 71 2 352 807
51 71 2 352 808
They are listed as being for M5. Unknown if it includes the M5 logo, the image is of a black, non LCI, m5 grill. The LCI M5, non-black, grills do not have a logo which has to be separately ordered.

51 71 2 165 528 (R)
51 71 2 165 539 (L)
Listed as being for F10 LCI and non LCI (non M5)

There is no part listed for M5 LCI style in black other than the M5 black grill (which may or may not be LCI style).

I just got my '14 LCI M5 grills for my '14 550i and they look awesome. They totally transform the front end of the car. The double slats look great. The M5 badge is not an extra part and is made into the grill. It can't be removed. I guess I'll just have to deal with the M5 emblem being on my 550i.

According to IND, the badge can be removed, but will leave two missing sections on the fins.

I think someone belive this because it is possible to order the grill without the badge. It will still leave the missing sections without the badge.

I'm having mine modified, so the missing sections will be filled and painted over, so I'll get rid of the badge.

I'm sure aftermarket replacement badges will be available in some months, like Hartge, Hamann, AC Schnitzer etc. Think it will be cleanest without a badge however. Unless you actually have the M5, though.

You can't remove the M5 badge. It's made into the plastic. I thoroughly inspected it when I put it on my car. If you remove it, you're going to break two slats.

Well, it doesn't make sense that the M5 badge har it's unique part number if it's not a separate part. Perhaps there is a difference between Performance and non-Performance. Which of them have you got?

I have no idea, but I know it doesn't come off and the part numbers are 51138057223 and 224. There is no separate part number for the badge on the left grill.

Then you've got the standard M5 LCI grill (not Performance). Strange, the badge is supposed to be part number 51 13 8 059 945 and should be removable.

Well, just gotta see myself if it is removable.

I just received mine and started fussing with them. Apparently the dealer was wrong, and the left grille comes with the emblem already affixed to the grille ... however the emblem can also be separately ordered as a replacement should something happen to the original, as all it does is affix with double sided tape to the grille from the factory.

Since there is a "mount" that is built-into the slats permanently for the stock emblem to sit on ... I decided to remove the ///M5 emblem, and replace with a larger ///M emblem, instead of having a blank flush surface there.

The smallest ///M trunk emblem that I could find was from an E93 M3 ... part # 51 14 8 041 901

The width of the ///M is almost spot on ... just a few mm too short, when compared to the ///M5 emblem ... and the height is a 1/4 in higher than the ///M5 emblem.

Since my car is 550xi M-Sport ... I don't feel too much like a poser with an ///M emblem ... definately more forgiving than leaving the ///M5 emblem on it.

It's dark out now ... so I'll get pix tomorrow and post up.

Was hoping to use a set of the pre-LCI Black Performance Grilles as a doner, and replace the Chrome surrounds on the LCI-M5 grille with the High-Gloss black ones from the pre-LCI Black performance grilles.

Sad to say that the clips do not align-up with the slats from the M5 grille, as well as the black surround has little grooves for the slats to sit in on the inside of the grille, while the M5 grille surround is more narrow on the inside, and does NOT have these grooves.

Hopefully anyone trying to piece together an M5 LCI Performance grille from these 4 parts will read this, and to their disappointment save themselves the cash, and just wait until the spring when these become available. I will probably just get the chrome surrounds covered in vinyl if I really want the black look in the future.

Sad to hear it did not work out for you. I've ordered the M5 LCI Performance grill and will pick it up in Germany along with my car next week.

Will have to figure something out regarding the badge. It's a good idea to replace the ///M5 with a ///M badge, there will probably be some aftermarket options here as well that will fit exactly. But still don't feel that option would be great on my 520d, it's better with your 550i

Should be possible to remove the badge as well, and fill in the hole in the slats and do some paintwork, but that will cost some dollars I guess.

You should just vinyl wrap your chrome surrounds, no-one other than you will see this!

Looking forward to seeing the pictures.

Was snowing earlier today .... but managed to get a few pictures of the grilles on the vehicle. Note the last picture, how there is a mounting surface for the ///M5 emblem built into the 2 slats on the left grille.

I think this is the best alternative to leaving the ///M5 emblem, or running no emblem at all, with the mount showing.

That's a good solution. Think I will remove it completely though, even if it is some work to do so.

What about putting a 'V8' badge there?... I'd rather not add an ///M badge.

me neither .... does BMW make a V8 badge that they have used on any previous models? If I added that ... I would want it to be in the correct BMW font.
