KW H.A.S. M5 system for 550i?

Alright, so I'm getting kind of fed up with the suspension options for my 550i with EDC and ARS.

While I can get the KW V1/2/3's and get the EDC delete kit, my installer (Turner MS) said they don't feel comfortable installing them because I have ARS and others have told me the same when I specify I have the active roll stabilization.

Also, if I ever have to go to the dealer and get my ARS tested, and the EDC delete modules are installed; the update/diagnostic will not finish without re-installing the factory shocks or at least having them nearby to plug in.

Video of what I'm talking about...

So what are my options? I have the H&R sport springs which gave me a great drop, but it's too uneven for my tastes and my rear wheel gap is driving me nuts. I can get the Dinan Shockware to improve the ride but it doesn't help the height issue.

So I randomly search for what KW has to offer for our F10 M5 brothers and they have the H.A.S. system MSRPing for around $1700.

Info on the KW H.A.S. system:

Quote:
KW Height Adjustable Spring Kit
For improved looks and more driving dynamics - in OEM quality.

KW height adjustable springs kits are a great alternative to conventional springs. You don’t have to be satisfied with a fixed lowering as you can adjust the height with the KW height adjuster even after the kit has been installed.

Your vehicle does not only get a more dynamic look with the KW height adjustable spring kit, but also the steering behaviour and response of the standard dampers becomes more agile. All driver assistance systems and comfort features of an adaptive series suspension remain with our vehicle specific developed spring set up.
No more 30-30 or 40-40!

With conventional lowering springs you have to decide on the lowering from the beginning, but not with the KW height adjustable spring kits. Depending on the vehicle specific application you can change the lowering within the adjustment range with the threaded spring perch when the springs are already installed. For example, the KW height adjustable spring kit for an Audi S5 allows you to lower the car in the range of 5-35 mm. You will not have any difficulties to adjust the lowering when changing your wheel/tire combination.
OEM Quality

The from KW used high-quality springs made of chrome-silicon steel are at the KW coilover spring kits in their spring rates vehicle specific adjusted to the respective standard suspension dampers and wheel loads. At the development of the respective spring kits we consider that the spring rates will perfectly harmonize with the different damper characteristics of your adaptive series suspension.

With their high quality (surface) finish as well as the KW height adjuster, our KW height adjustable spring kits delivery content always includes the vehicle-specific bump stops with dust protection system to protect your standard suspension against tear & wear caused by spray and salt.

individual height adjustment of the standard suspension kit
adaptive damper control remains active
vehicle specific spring rates
better steering behaviour
improved looksk

Setup - Application and adjustment

The KW height adjustable spring kits are suitable for drivers who want to lower their car and have the advantage of an individual adjustment range.

So that sounds perfect. I know a few guys who have them on their S4's with EDC and they love it too.

I figure, worst case scenario I can just order custom springs through KW to support the weight difference (if any) and spring rate and this would be ideal for most of us.

Please let me know if this would be plausible or if there are any other things I should be considering.

Should work. Someone posted up that he installed M5 springs on his 550 so in theory this should work too.

Pretty sure it was here. Someone was selling the M5 take off springs for a friend and said they were installed on his 550 giving it a half in drop

So, I found a used set for sale, said screw it, and am gonna try it out!

I'll let you know how it goes! The weight difference between the 550i and M5 is less than 100lbs, so atleast we don't have to worry about that.

Yeah...I hear ya. I'd be interested in a little more lowering on my ride. I currently have the H&R's and it's not low enough.

I did receive the coils, but haven't had a chance to install. Been dealing with other issues with the car, might also part out all the aftermarket goods and trade the car in.

If I do get them installed I'll update he thread and everyone else.

If anyone wants to try and see if it is possible. I'll sell the coils for what I bought them for ($775 shipped).
