BMS Stage 1 gains 550i f10
Does anyone besides BB550 have measured results (even approx with phone video) of the 0 - 60 gains with the Stage 1 tune. I have seen mixed results, obviously BB550 has experienced great gains but others have shown very minimal gains for whatever reason. I'm looking more for the average driver just putting it to the floor and comparing times. I have seen that for Dinan (when it's installed properly) but not BMS.
Thanks for your help! Whenever I decide on the tune I will definitely post before and after videos. |

that problem is being figured out right now and new TU engines are putting out a lot more power on stage 1 ( 2 cars in Cali have it Running) ... which means yes you will feel the power even on daily driving.

I am actually talking about the post dunderhi references on the first page of this thread...I have seen the actual post showing the results from his run, but I can't find the post right now. I don't know if it is a TU or not
http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=889513 Either way, I am looking for a baseline comparison...before and after (haven't seen that yet)...if you have it, that's great too For instance, I know I run 0-60 at approximately 5 flat with my rookie driving skills (and using particular settings) and I want to test 20 - 80 soon before I install either tune Interested in what kind of improvement (approximate) each provides over stock So ummmm, if you have it, let's see it...or, just disconnect your stage 1 and run it the next time you are at the track with the same settings, launch style, etc. |

But it was tested on two, and working great both gained nearly 70hp at the wheels.

I believe the BMS S1 tune comes 2.25psi over stock by default. Alan

Thanks for the reply Mike...with the lack of evidence of the "true" Dinan gains by customers, it is damn hard to justify 7 times the price, even for the warranty and supposed compatibility. If I go BMS, I will try to attach some time numbers to those HP gains for us every day drivers...should be interesting
Amazing the amount of information, and misinformation out there about the tunes for this car, and folks paying $20K for an upgrade and not getting it, wow... One more question, does the BMS tune increase throttle response or decrease lag over stock? |

yes thats why i said that his race gas statement is incorrect because stock 2.25 does not require 100 octane...

I said I would post results if I went with BMS, so here they are
Install Took approx 15 - 20 minutes for a guy only minimally mechanically inclined...the right tool (very small, long screwdriver) makes all the difference. Gently wedge the screwdriver in between the clip and the plug lightly prying open the clip, wiggle plug with other hand until free. The passenger side is tighter as warned, and I actually removed a small hose to provide easy access...extremely easy install, but couldn't route the box under the rubber grommet as specified in installation instructions. Had to route wires over this area instead of through, may be difference in 750 vs 550 Timing method - 40 deg, 3/4 tank (yeah, I know) Ran three 0 - 60 runs (no launch, just sport mode with traction control enabled) and two 20 - 80 runs (same settings)...came home, installed BMS, ran the same runs ... As a side note, DTC enabled 0 - 60 was 0.3 seconds faster than with it disabled on stock due to wheel spin Uploaded videos, watched tac and speedo to 100th of a second for start time (when tac began to increase and speedo initiated motion) and watched to 100th of a second for desired top speed Stock 0 - 60 mph = 4.95 sec 0 - 60 = 4.88 0 - 60 = 4.98 20 - 80 mph = 6.89 sec 20 - 80 = 6.88 40 deg, 3/4 fuel After BMS Tune, same conditions 0 - 60 mph = 4.75 sec 0 - 60 = 4.70 20 - 80 mph = 6.47 sec 20 - 80 = 6.45 Other notes: even with DTC enabled I lost traction (DTC engaged) on both BMS 0 - 60 runs and did not noticeably on stock. Overall impressions are that the car pulls much harder at two points (somewhere between 15 - 20 mph to 30 - 40 mph, and then again around 60 mph - 80 mph. Very happy overall for the price and easy install! Bring on Stage II Apologize for any errors, all types on iphone |

Those numbers look conservative to me.
Note: sport + increases the ferocity of the up shifts. Try it in sports + and then post up. These numbers don't make sense to me considering you have 450whp. Quote:

^ he doesn't have 450whp - according to his sig he has a 2011 550i, which means w/ the stage 1 on the default setting, he likely has around 420whp....
Those #'s look perfect for a 2011 550i rwd w/ bms stage 1.... Hard no to get wheel spin w/ RWD on street tires w/ over 450 ft/lbs trq to the wheels. Also, from what I've researched, shifting in sport vs. sport+ is identical... the only difference is that in Sport+, DSC is disabled and only DTC is enabled. Scott135i is spot on regarding difference in sport and sport plus modes. Also on wheel spin. I am sure the 0 to 60 runs would be better if there were no wheel spin.
