BMW Tire and Rim Insurance for M-Sport

Any input on what should I pay for the Tire and Rim insurance for 2011 535 xi with m-sport package. Dealer is quoted $1500 for 3 yr lease. I currently have insurance on my current 335 and it was worth it because I got 3 tires changed over the last 3 years.

Any idea what it really cost the dealers?

I paid $595 for a 3 year package last year for my 335xi 18" sport wheels.

replaced 5 tires since then and 1 wheel.

Wow, seems steep but then the run flats are not cheap! I recall the insurance on my 550 way something like $450 for 3 years. But no run flat on my 550...

I got the 5 year unlimited miles tire and rim insurance for my F10 535i sport. Price was 1500 but it's already paying off. Last week a pothole ruined a tire and BMW replaced it next day. I've only had the car 2.5 months. Roads in NY/NJ are bad for sport tires.

Hoss, did you get your tire replaced at a bmw center or regular garage? did you have any out of pocket expenses ie mounting or balancing? how easy was the process?

I normally do not opt for stuff like this but the fact that it covers tires and rims and also living and driving in the NY metro area, its got me leaning towards buying the insurance. thanks

When i've had tires replaced under the insurance, it is at the dealership. In my case it is was actually a third-party policy that the dealer used. You would pay the bill and then submit a claim after which you were reimbursed in full by check...

I had the tire replaced at the BMW center. My insurance included checking tires/rims/suspension, new tire, mounting and balancing. The bill was $487 with no charge to me. Simple process. They did have to order the tire (none in stock) and gave me a loaner for a couple days.

I usually don't get this type of insurance either, but I thought it was worth it living in the NYC area with this type of car. The score so far is 5,000 miles of driving and 1 tire replaced.

I think this is a must for an m-sport csr. Especially in the nj/ny area. $1,500 is worth its' weight in gold.
