Part Number Help
Can't seem to find this part (highlighted green) in realoem that serves as exhaust hanger and connects to a bracket on the transmission.
Anyone know where it is or just knows the part number for it? Thanks.

Strange - I couldn't locate the part number for this either. (Especially odd since there is a part number for the Rear Muffler Cross Brace (18-30-7-604-038)). I can't imagine it's not a stand alone part.
Perhaps the M5 section might be able to assist, I believe their exhausts are very similar. Chad. |

Thanks for looking into it. Yeah it's bizarre that it shows the. part but no number.
I'll check with the M5 crowd. Quote:

As far as I can tell, it's not a part sold separately.

I will never let anyone work on my car but myself and the dealership. Ever. The shop I had the car at doing exhaust work intentionally bent it down to access the pipes then bent it back up rather than remove 2 Torx screws. I actually went out of my way to point those screws out and they still took the shit route.

Wonder what they did on what you can't see.....What a shame.....
BTW, out of curiosity is that cross member aluminum or steel? If you are patient, you may be able to get one off of eBay...or get one from someone that has removed their stock exhaust..... |

spielnicht - I checked with one of the BMW online parts guys I use and he confirmed that: "Unfortunately that part is not available from BMW separately. It’s only included as part of the complete midpipe assembly."
Perhaps you could buy a cheap upper-muffler section on ebay or another classified (as was suggested above by another poster) to remove that one part - or possibly take it somewhere and have it made (doesn't look that complicated - although I'm sure you'd prefer the factory piece). Chad. |

Thank you all for looking into it. Yeah it sucks to have mechanics taking short cuts like this - certainly does make you wonder what else wasn't done right when I wasn't looking.
I'll ping a good seller on eBay that's always come through for me and see if he has an extra one to sell me. Thx again.
