BMW F10 strange whistling noise while speeding up.

Model: BMW F10 535I
Problem: while speeding up from stationary strange whistling can be heard, outside of car too.
Could this be a problem or just a turbo noise that's normal?

Adding YouTube video of the sound: https://youtube.com/shorts/ChJX7I7i9l0?feature=shared

Doesn’t sound like turbo noise to me. How many miles on the car and what year?

I searched what you described and others have had this problem but unfortunately there are no conclusive findings. Some suggested to turn off the AC/ fan off, other one to switch center register between warm and cold settings. Last one is if you oil fill cap off. do you hear it.

I don't think it's about fans, because the sound "goes with engine", if the engine sound speeds up then the whistling gets louder, if gearbox changes gear, the whistling goes off for split second and than back again whistling until new gear, goes away at higher speeds.

Open the hood, remove the engine cover, start the engine, and see if you can hear it even faintly coming from the pcv in the valve cover. I had a b58 that sounded like this, wound up being a bad pcv diaphragm. Sadly if it’s bad on yours you’ll need to replace the entire valve cover. The b58 also had white smoke from the exhaust at idle with it.

Any type of whistling might be coming from the PCV. You could do the flame test or you could also test to see how much vacuum it has and see if it holds.

Do you still hear this noise if revving the engine while stationary in Park or Neutral?
