Got Her All Cleaned Up

Got the car back from getting a final buffing from the shop that did the repair work on the car after my wife hit something in the road that fell off the truck in front of her at 75 mph.

Here are the results of trying to find a decent wheel that won't break the bank and that is forged - I came up with M5 wheels, they're forged and readily available if I need another one due to unforeseen circumstances, unlike Morr, who basically told me, tough.

Enough bitching - Here's my car:
2011 550i M-Sport, Jet Black, (it's such a pain to keep up, but looks awesome when it's all cleaned up), M5 trunk spoiler, M5 grilles, and now M5 wheels with 255/35/20's in front and 285/30/20's in the rear, all lowered on ACS springs. M5's must have a narrower rear axle by a few millimeters as I wanted to fit 295's on the rear, but they would stick out past the rear fenders. I've got a set of Corsa tips I haven't installed yet - that's the next and I hope the final item.

At least the exhaust should have a little bit of rumble - add a little sport to the M-Sport (or so to speak).

I got them from Midwest Wheel and Tire in Michigan. They were the only ones who could round up a set of wheels. They are refurbished and more than half the price of what the dealer wanted. They're factory wheels and forged, a much better deal than I could get from Morr.

Your drop looks pretty good. What is your ride height? I'm also on ACS, but mine is not as low as yours.

I'm on ACS springs for a 550i - maybe because the car is black and along with the fender liners and the tires being black it may appear to be lower.

Looking really nice.
I take it that these are OEM M5 wheels and I am surprised that they fit standard 5 series.
I never liked these wheels but looking at the photos of your car....I will have to reconsider especially when I have M5 body kit.

B/W your signature says that you have M5 grills whereas they are not?

I do have M5 FRONT grilles, not M5 FENDER grilles. But that's about all that's M5 that's missing from my car except for the engine.

Gotta agree with you there Chilli as the black looks smokin' when it's perfectly cleaned. The lustre of the paint is unrivalled.

I like your rims too. In terms of the difference of a few millimetres, is it possible to get the inside hub of the wheel machined given that it's only a small amount? That'll give you perfect tyre fitment.
