More horse power
Hi, free flow k and n filter gave me another 5 bhp according to the rolling road, fitted after a remap and derestricted car. Remapped my 335d and it went from 286 bhp to 343bhp changed filter but kept original air box because of the heat and I gained another 5 horses. 650 Nm torque now and it nudges 180 mph on the sat nav before it runs out of revs, I am sure it does not compare to your 550 I though. I had your exact same car. Dinan Stage 3. My car became a beast!
Don't mess with the K&N stuff. You're wasting your time and money. The Dinan tuning totally transforms your car. |

I am not sure how much more Dinan is, I think it is a significant difference. However, it is supported by bmw and doesn't mess with your warranty . A lot of the other brands, I see a lot of coding error problems. Dinan is worry free. Just my opinion.

Price for dinan cost thousands of dollars more vs the Competition.... a simple piggy back will not harm anything as others have tested including me and only cost $400 while dinan for less performance charges 2k +

Haha while I agree with badblack on going for the piggy back, such as bms like badblack has, as it's both cheaper and gives more power, I have to disagree with him saying the dinan tune is not noticeable. While I can't speak for dinan stage 1, I have dinan stage 2 on my 550 and can tell you it is a pretty dramatic difference from stock. I purchased my car used with s2 already on it otherwise I would have done the bms tune, still somewhat considering it haha, as it is more powerful. Both bms and dinan will much improve your car. Some people just like saying their bmw is a dinan but if you want it to be as fast as possible go for the bms no question. Plus it is cheaper so win win!

regarding the carbon filter delete: had my hood open and looking at the air filter housing. It looks like there's a couple sensors blocking access to one of the bolts that would need to be removed to open the air filter housing. Is this right?

I was doing 12.5's and 6's last time and stock runs are about 13.1's and 2's, so half a second better than stock wasn't disappointing (especially since I didn't buy the dinan lol) but I agree I want to get more out of it which is why even tho I have s2 I am contemplating getting bms s2! Do you know if I have to take dinan off before doing the bms or can I just add it without doing that? I'm gonna take it to the track after I get my exhaust in and see if there is any difference.

Just installed the BMS JB4 Stage 1 in my '14 550ix MSport. Went from. 4.6 to a 3.5 0-60. Couldn't be more happy with such an inexpensive tune.

3.5 exactly? Seems a little quick coming from just a JB4. Seems fishy but could be true. After all the m5 does do 0-60 in 3.9 (or 3.7 depending on who does the auto review).

That's pretty damn quick if accurate. Wonder what the Stage 2 would do.
