DIY Request: Interior Trim Swap
Has anyone swapped out the interior trim? I am going to be picking up a 2011 550i M-Sport with the Hexagon Aluminum Trim installed. I don't like how they look at least in pictures so I want to swap them out for the dark wood interior trim.
Has anyone done this? Or has someone had BMW do the swap and if so, how much was it?

Its really easy, just get a plastic panel tool kit, and a T15 torx screw driver.
All the panels pop right out, except the center console. You'll need to remove the little trim that goes over the button for the arm rest and take out 1 T15 screw, then pop out the console using a panel popper, disconnect all the wires and you're done. On a scale of 1-10, its probably about 2.5/10 |

I wish there was a video of the removal of the interior trim. I like to view how things are done before attempting. Maybe there is a manual out there to show how the interior trim would be removed. Where do I get the panel tool? Btw. thanks for the info!

Anybody feeling generous and willing to take a video of removing their trim? <pretty please> hahaha.
Btw. Just finalized the deal on a new to me 2011 550i M-Sport. Been so busy at work that I went straight back to work and haven't enjoyed it.

In the center console, there is a screw holding it. How to get to this screw... This is the question... |

edit: Done! Dan1416 - Thank you. This was exactly what I had to do to get this screw. I'm alright so is the console... Look at the picture below: The cover pointed with the red arrow needs to be pulled up to reveal the screw. After the screw is removed you can pull up the rest. There are T-20 screws at the back, holding each particular part of the console (eg. ashtray etc.) After removing all of the screws the trim is free. Next you have to remove ashtray lid and the cup holder lid: This is very easy. You just have to slide the cover towards you, just look at the arrows in the picture. The cover and the ashtray have some little hooks bent in the opposite directions (marked green in the picture). I hope this is helpful. (Sorry for the low quality photos) Cheers guys.
