I've bought an ex police car

I bought an ex police 13 plate 530d about a month ago and so far it's been okay. I've just been replacing panels and such where the holes have been for their equipment etc

I've been reading about the police drilling holes in the engines for reasons I don't know. Can someone share some light on this?

Also what else should I try to do to prevent any unexpected catastrophy?

Or have I made a big mistake.

well, you're not in the US, so you can rule out looking for hidden guns and or drugs.
