2011 F10 shakes and hesitates while coasting

I recently got a 2011 F10 and after a bit i started feeling a very annoying shake that only happens while coasting, much more noticeable on high speeds. The car runs very smoothly until i lift my foot off the gas pedal, once i do, it starts shaking (fells like the car is being dragged and shakes back and forth) and it completely stops and goes smooth again once i touch the gas pedal. Checked tires, all good, engine mounts are good, not sure what could be the problem, someone told me it might be an injector issue, others said could be spark plugs and coils.

exactly what I was thinking. Rear driveshaft center support bearing. Your symptoms are in line with what you'd expect to feel when this bearing starts going out.

the middle section of the exhaust is in the way, then you have the metal shielding... THEN you have access to the carrier bearing. Just be ready! It's not just a quick look under the car lol.

Yeah. And also to change it. Yo have to remove the entire driveshaft and make sure you mark it's position. So it can bolt back in the same place.

Surprisingly, the bearing was completely fine. The crazy part is that the car started shaking while trying it on the lift, then it stopped out of nowhere then started shaking again the day after. I know it might sound dumb, but I have a feeling that it becomes worse in colder weather.

Have you checked the guibo? Do you feel it in the steering wheel or the chair? It could be tires. Thrust bearings. Or any other suspension components. Yes things can happen in the cold as rubber parts can stiffen. Just remembered transfer case bushings also. Basically any rubber bushing could be causing these vibrations.

The giubo is fine, the whole car shakes, just did an alignment Friday to eliminate tires. I will double check the rest of the suspension.

Thanks

Alignment won't rule out tires. I don't think your problem is tires. But you never know.

does it tend to happen going in a straight line, or accelerating out of a turn? Now you have me suspecting the transfer case. When it happens do you get any traction control lights on the dash? On X vehicles they tend to go out like this. I've yet to see one go out on an F10 though (not that it can't happen, just haven't seen it at my job)

It happens at all times, straight or turning (only happens while coasting), no traction control lights.

Any updates yet? My 2015 just started doing this as well. Out of the blue it sounds like a wheel bearing growl and only does it when coasting. Under acceleration it’s a smooth as ever…
