preparation center for hawaii
does anyone know where the preparation center for a 5-series headed for hawaii is located? is it the one in (near) oxnard, california? i have a 535i now enroute to the preparation center from germany and am curious as to how it gets from there to here. i have been following progress on the bmw website but the site does not seem to be real time.

Kona,
I remembered this thread and found it for you. Looks like as of 2005, they didn't have a Prep center in Hawaii. My guess is they must have used Port Hueneme, then re-shipped onto the Islands. The additional "2 weeks" mentioned may partly be waiting and loading/unloading times. Wonder what their process is from West Coast to protect the car like they do from Germany? Some winter storms lurk out there right now. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=828

preparation center for hawaii
Prep center was at Port Hueneme and car arrived in Hawaii (Kona) at the end of March. Total time between ordering the car and delivery was about 3 months. I think it took about 2 weeks between arrival at Port Hueneme and delivery in Kona although I found it very difficult to actually track the car once production was finished in Germany. I'm not sure how the car was protected between California and Hawaii but the main thing is that the car arrived safe and sound and I am now enjoying driving it. |
