Chrome Strip on Door Handles?

Can it be removed? I like the black replacement grills, but would not install them if I had this strip and any other conspicuous chrome that would "clash"...

Lay it on me...

I ordered my car in sapphireblack plus shadowline black. When it arrived at my dealer I was in 'shock' looking at the chromeplastic doorhandles, but afaik it comes in NL/EU with the interior lighting package which I ordered as well.

After a few minutes I thought: I just keep it this way...

But I don't know IF there are replacement strips in the colour of the car.

In another similar thread, someone suggested that if you have a black car, you can go to a place to does window tinting, and have them apply the film to the chrome strips to make them much less visible. I'll probably look into that, as they will be the only chrome pieces on my 550i M Sport in Carbon Black.

I sure would think that the aftermarket would make those strips in stock colors...

Agreed. On an M Sport car, it would effectively negate the need to mess with it if one was changing the grills and fender trim. Basically, it would look like the exhaust tips. The only thing left would be the 550i lettering on the back...

Chrome strips in the door handles come with the premium package which adds ambient lighting. If you dont have the premium package you dont have the chrome strips in the door handles

In the US brochure it is said that:

Quote:
Comfort access (available only in conjunction with optional ambient light), including chrome elements in the door handles, for opening and locking the vehicle without having to operate the radio remote control. Vicinity lighting integrated into the door handles.
So your car must be ordered both Ambient Light and Comfort Access to have chrome strip on door handles

That is not correct. You dont have to have CA to have the chrome inserts. I have only seen one car without the chrome inserts and it was a non-premium package equipped car.

in the UK if you order a 520d M Sport you get none chrome door handles as std. Happy days, better fuel economy and nicer looking handles. I knew I order that model for a reason, now found out why.....

Didn't find this thread until after I posted. Remove your door handle inserts:

i realized if u dont have ambient lighting on the door handles u dont have the chrome strip.

both Lacster and Jaekeems car do not have the chrome strips on the door which i really like since its much cleaner, and they also dont have the LED lights on the door handles.
