New to 2015 F10, need some help
Hi All,
I am new to the 2015 528xi (traded in my 09 328xi). I have few questions for other 2014/2015 F10 owners: 1. Does your car comes with cigarettes lighter? Mine 09 had, and so does the x5. 2. Is it my car or you all have same experience, when putting the car side-by-side, the 2015 xenon headlights (standard on 2015) are bit of yellow, just like the halogen lights? I parked next to 2013 MB, 2010 335, Audi.. looks like the 2015 standard xenon is different in the light color? 3. Instrument cluster with extended contents - anyone have the head-up display or Driver Assistance Package? I wasn't aware of this option until I took the car and if someone can help me understand what am I missing? just for my own information. Anyone have input, please help me.. |

GarGar ,
The cigarette lighter is a non-existence on the F10. I had 2012 F10 528 and it didn't have it, now I have 2014 F10 ActiveHybrid5, it also didn't come with one. But, my 2014 F15 X5 does come with one. The Xenon headlight, I never really compares. But I do know that BMW uses different light temp than the other brands. I can't compare it to my F15 since it has the LED package. Instrument cluster wise, I am not sure which package does that one includes with. I have it on both my current car, but didn't have it on the 528. My F15 has Driver Assistance package for sure since I have HUD.

First, congrats to you.
1. No, you'll have to buy it yourself. It comes with a fake cap. 2. It has some yellow but very little. It's definitely nothing like halogen. HIDs do tend to get towards blue/purple spectrum as it ages so that's why you saw the difference. It's called color shifting. Also, a lot of people change their bulbs to 5000k or 6000k as well. I know the older Audis use 4200-4300k HIDs. The new models seems like it may be 5000k but I have no confirmation of this. BMW stock HIDs are 4300k temperature which are optimal for light output. It will have a slight yellowish at certain angle. Don't be fooled by others with 5000k or 6000K kits. A 35W 4300K kit produce as much light as a 55W 6000K kit. After you use it for a couple years, it will turn whiter and have more blue/purple to it. Mine is that way right now. 3. HUD is the head up display. If you have it, there's a whole on top of your dash above the instrument cluster that project onto your windshield. It has full color graphics and project useful info on there like speed, warnings and navigation. Driver Assistance is great if you live in the city but can be annoying. It's not something you really need if you pay attention to the road. I looked up the 2013 Audi A6 and BMW 528. It seems they are both 4150K by OSRAM.
