I wanted to do this but I could not find a mute button. Where is this? Also, how can I get to the menu where 'Telephone' and 'Additional telephone' shows? I cannot find that either. What firmware do your cars run? Mine is supposed to be the latest, only out a few days (as I just took delivery of the F11 as an approved used I got them to throw this in the deal). |

I think it is my 158 contacts that are doing this. Funny enough, my 2005 E46 (330 ci SE) has no problem at all with my phone. I just cannot not read messages but that is to do with the phone compatibility. Deither does my wife's phone in our 330... |

I've got more than 158 so I don't know if that was it. Did you actually update the software? My car is a April 2011 build and there were two updates available which took about 12 minutes to download. You have to have the engine running but be stationary during that time.

As for the number of contacts, I do not know. As my addressbook is loaded as normal when I first pair the phone but disappears afterwards, I am at a loss as to what is going on. My wife's phone is identical to mine, with the same software, everything the same. Only the number of contacts differers. I have now brought my contacts down to 123 so I will check again later and see... |

My car was built Jan 2012 but it still didn't have the latest Bluetooth software installed at the factory even though it was released before my car was built.
Mine failed to update 3 times when I tried the over the air update but it did work fine from a USB stick. I'm on 3.5.4 and have 511 contacts so it shouldn't be an issue with 154 contacts |

Can you please give me the link for the download? I went to the Bmw owners section in the bmw website but was not sure where to look. Thanks again.

Just to make it clear, is this plug and play? Just dock the stick in the USB port in the central console? There is another USB port in the glove compartment. Are the both ok or do I have to use a specific one? Many thanks again.

Thanks. Unfortunately nothing seems to work. Update was not needed, and deleting contacts and all the rest of it made no difference. It just does not make any sense...

I've seen some posts where it hasn't used the latest update.
What version does yours show now? Should be 3.5.4 I really must get the duster out !! - It didn't look dusty until I took a photo - Really!! |

In the screen from which you took the screenshot (which I suspect is under menu --> Settings ---> Update), when I click update, it does not come with any of the options to update anything. It just asks me if I want to update via USB or teleservices (or something like that). But there is no list of updates available, which makes me think that Indeed I have the latest software. Please can you have a look at your firmware version and see if it is the same with mine that I posted yesterday? Thanks again. It really is mind boggling. I can see names and numbers in the recent calls section but not in the address book section...

If you select Teleservices it will go and check the versions - After a while of Data transfer it will tell you whether there is no update necessary or if an update is available

I have just checked again in the BMW website, and upon entering my VIN I get a message that there are no software updates available for my car. So it looks like I have the latest software but the car and the phone have some sort of dissagreement...

Yes. this is what happened. It just did not give the message. It reverted to 'service ready' and 'start service'. And as I wrote above, the BMW website confirms I do not need a software update. I really do not know what to think or say. I might dissable the 'office' function on the car and see if this makes any difference. But then again, how come my wife's phone work fine and mine does not? Very bizzare... |

Something wrong somewhere here
The bmw bluetooth update site should give you the update even if it is up to date If I put my vin in it gives me the option to download the update, even though my car is up to date. Just to confirm how old is your car? It does have a combox fitted (post sept 2010 build)? |

My car has the com box and is post September 2010. I am resetting my phone now, erasing everything and I will load everything afresh. Fingers crossed.
