M-Sports Front Bumper Splitters

Does anyone make splitters for the M-Sport front bumper? I'm not that fond of the front lips that are available and would prefer just a pair of splitters. IMO the M Performance front lip has perfect splitters, but I don't like the center portion that hangs below the bumper. Anyone know of any options out there? Right now I have black vinyl on the outer edges of my bumper to mimic the look of splitters, but would love to get some real ones if available and the design is right.

BMW does not make what I am looking for. I am looking for two separate pieces, one mounted on the left side of the bumper and one on the right. Similar splitters are made for other BMW models, but I haven't seen any options for the F10.

You may want to check the the AC Schnitzer front splitters: http://europeanautosource.com/ac-sch...s-m-sport.html and the full view on this page: http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=759062

I had a similar dilemma, I actually wanted the full BMW splitter but when I went to order it I was told that I could not fit it on my car due to a passenger sensor that it would interfere with.

I had mine wrapped in 3M carbon vinyl a few weeks ago, which looks the same as you have on yours (great minds!). I think this looks fine, why do you want to change it? The carbon inserts are not really going to look any different...

May I ask you to specify what is the passenger sensor that OEM BMW splitter (or any other splitter) can interfere with?

I have been considering this. Just now sure if I remove the lip portion, what that unfinished connecting point would look like. I need to closely examine an OEM M Performance Splitter.

The genuine piece is 3 separate peices, so you can separate it if you please.

Sorry pedestrian not passenger! I went into two local dealerships and when both entered my chassis number they said that the system would not allow them to order the front splitter for my car. The system was locking them out of selecting this option due to a pedestrian sensor (I think this pops the bonnet if it senses an impact) that it would interfere with. I was told that I would have to sign a disclaimer if I wanted to order one! I did post on here trying to get some advice as it sounded ridiculous to me because so many owners have these splitters and a pedestrian sensor is fitted to all F10's. I got no response so decided to wrap the bumper instead.

OK before your info I was aware about the Night Vision with pedestrian detection which is a camera-based thing and the Active Cruise with a large front sensor and emergency breaking. Now we've got it: S8TFA AKTIVER FUSSGAENGERSCHUTZ. Active pedestrian protection. Described as "the mechanism in the bonnet hinging/locking catches, that lifts the bonnet in a collision to soften the impact zone above the engine. It is quite a complex hinge/locking mechanism on the 5-series". There are 2 sensors pos. 6 and pos. 7 see here: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...g=65&lang=enUS The pos. 6 "Sensor, pedestrian protection f-optic" looks like a cable attached behind the front bumper bottom edge.

Now I saw in forums, the Active pedestrian protection is additional optional feature known better in the UK, and the purpose of it is definitely good, unlike the unclear technical realization. Theoretically a splitter made intentionally of sensor-isolating material in top of the front bumper may reduce the sensor's sensitivity, but it sounds strange that after you paid for the extra safety system that seems to be totally optional, you've got the specific obligation to use it, while 90% of owners have right to skip it at all, then got no issue with any splitters and no need of the strange disclaimers of that kind. Also all the Driver Assistance options if installed can be easily switched on/off with the button pad below the light switch. Having ordered Night Vision or Line Change Warning, or Blind Spot Detection etc. no one has obligation to keep them on all time, because they are optional indeed.

You may want to check is it the S8TFA we are talking about, and make further investigation of its particular conditions of use. My opinion, BMW may recommend you how to avoid potentially reducing sensor range, but it's no way they can dictate you what to do. There are thousands of cars being driven around without having that system/issue/obligation. Not a single reason to be discriminated

Wow, great research! Makes sense now, I didn't realise that this was an option. Anyway I'm pretty happy with my vinyl solution now and it's a hell of a lot cheaper...

Really? I didn't know that. I need to look into that option a bit more. Thank for that piece of info.

Ok maybe I made it sound easier that it actually is, let me retract that statement.

The genuine BMW MSport splitter looks as if it can be separated into 3 pieces.

I haven't done it myself, dont want to make it sound like its 100%.

But, check out the images. See the clips there? I was going to separate them but buyer popper up and I needed to ship it out so I never got to separating them.

I see. Thanks so much for this. My guess is any reps out there are probably made as one piece, so I will likely be limited to the OEM splitter which is pricey to say the least. Especially since I would be tossing the entire lip portion. But you know what they say, "You gotta pay to play". Quality modding is not cheap. I think I just figured out what my next mod will be.

I just have mine changed

Just a little of personalization to my touring only using vinyl that can be easily taken out.

That's exactly what I've done to mine, using 3M 4D vinyl

True. I was just wondering if someone on the forum has it. I like your idea of the front splitters. Similar to the M5 RKP splitter. (https://www.google.com/search?q=bmw+...ml%3B728%3B401). Maybe we can get a group buy and reach out to manufacturers...

Yep. Nobody seems to make anything similar for the MSport bumper.
