As to how much more power, it depends on how far we are pushing the stock turbos at 13-14psi. I believe the current limits are in place to avoid knock, not to avoid over-spinning the turbos. If that's the case then through bolt-ons we should be able increase VE, and therefore increase boost with the same effect on the turbos. And with meth injection we should be able to reduce IATs and increase octane reducing the tendency for knock and therefore be able to run more boost & timing. Both of these things would be very good for power. For a rough comparison, the N54 guys are comfortably running twice the stock boost while we are currently at only 50% more than stock. Stage 2 for N63, just like for N54 and N55 will allow for more proactive adjustment, by the piggyback, to boost/timing/ect to defined targets set by the piggyback. Stage 2 doesn't need to increase boost more than stage 1 to make more power, although it probably will. And stage 2 settings can be better calibrated to different mods, and different cars in general. |

These are great results off of a "stock" car...
I can't wait to see how well these car react to stage 2 with additional mods; intakes, DPs, Intercoolers... I can't wait.

Stage II 93 octane numbers are in!
Just a little teaser from today's dyno tuning with our 550. Stage2 development is coming along. Will add more details later tonight. Test car: Our 2011 550i w/ 35k miles ~93 octane (91 octane + 1 can of NOS octane booster) Carbon filters removed Dyno notes: 1) The air intake on this system is highly restrictive but removing the carbon filters seemed to improve flow. I'd strongly suggest it for all stages. We'll look in to testing drop in filters and other options to improve overall airflow. In the dynos below we removed the carbon filters after the stock & S1 testing but before the S2 testing. 2) The highest of the dynos was tuned a bit overly aggressive (had two timing drops during the pull) but gives a feeling for what this S2 tuning might do with a race gas mixture rather than straight 93. With a race gas mixture I think another ~20hp is on the table. We'll go back to the dyno after some addl programming changes are implemented to test this out. 3) OEM boost peaked at 10psi, S1 12psi, S2 15psi, and S2 Agr 16psi. Note for some yet unresolved reason our N63 runs 1-2psi more in bank1 than bank2. The figures quoted are averages of both banks. N63 Stage2 notes in no particular order: We're starting to get a feeling for how this is going to shape up. Still lots of work to go but here is what we know so far: 1) The upgrade kit is going to consist a new control box and 4-6 extra wires. The extra wires plug in to the Stage1 harness and then are installed inside the DME box in a "pin out" (fully reversible) configuration. To install these wires you will take apart the DME connector, pull out a factory pin, stick the JB pin in its place, and then plug the factor pin in to a corresponding JB pin to make a complete loop. This will be the only installation method offered. 2) We have no idea at this time what models will be actually compatible with the N63 S2. It's looking like 2011-2013 550. I'll have to look at a 650, 750, etc, to determine if the S2 will be compatible. To be compatible the vehicle must use a single DME (2014+ models use two DMEs), and that DME must be accessible inside a little DME box towards the front of the engine similar to the 2011-2013 550. 3) The S2 will not include CANbus access and will not have any can related features. Accessing the CANbus on this platform is just too much of a PITA to make customer install/removals practical. So, we'll suggest a BT cable for code reading, deleting, and datalogging. They are $179 on our site. 4) There will be maps for 91 octane, 93 octane, and race gas mixtures. Maps are changed via the laptop interface and current BMS USB cable. 5) Due to fueling limitations this platform will not accept E85 fuels. For higher than pump gas performance we suggest MMT based octane boosters such as NOS RACE & Torco or unleaded race gas. 6) We expect the S1->S2 upgrade kit price will be in the $350 range. 7) Please do not email me asking for additional N63 S2 information. It is not practical for us to disperse information in a one on one format especially when any information we wish to share publicly is posted in this thread. I'll update this thread with more info as we have it.
