Passing a good deal / experiance (H&R Sway bars)

see my last post for update 2017-03-27
-------------

Hello guys,

I just wanted to share in case some of you would be interested. Currently in term of sway bars we have the choice of M5 / 550d combo or H&R.

Some are going towards the OEM combo because of the cost vs more expensive H&R but have to live with the M5 front swaybar odd angle. Good news for you, Tunershop (which I am not affiliated at all) got the H&R bars (Front and Rear Combo) for only 392$ so less expensinve compared to the OEM combo....

Yes 392$ for the front and the rears! I ordered mine Tuesday and got them Friday the same week shipped directly from H&R Germany.

http://www.tunershop.com/H_R_Sway_Ba...086489_h4.html

Alexander from Tunershop was very helpful and replied to all my questions without a few hours.

I have not installed yet since I will wait until my next oil change due in a few thousand miles. I will post a product review once they are on the car.

What is the thickness of the bars? I wonder if they fit on the F07. I heard the GT has thicker rear bars than the F10 (14mm v. 18mm), but haven't heard anything about cross-compatibility. Hmmm.

This is a deal. Does it comes with screws and everything or do I need to order anything else with the sway bars? On H&R website it says these should be about $400 each!

Those are 30mm Front and 20mm Rear. In the kit there is 2 bars and 4 bushings which is to be installed using OEM brackets so nothing more should be needed.

For the 5GT question from the reading I have made it probably do not fit since the rear GT bar do not fit sedan...

I do not understand why they are so low when MSRP of the kit is 799USD$, my thinking was they made a mistake in pricing so I kept the deal for my self until I go my bars! So hurry until they change the pricing!

Anyone know if this would fit 2013 550xi with dynamic drive? It also seems as if the part numbers differ between h&r site and tunershop

Box part number 33894-1

Description: Stabilisateur Set fur BMW 5er Lim Typ F10 2WD

2 ST VA-Largerblock HR33480VA01-30
1 ST HA-Stabilisator 33894HA

They seems to sell on ebay too for a bit more since it is 392 EUR instead of 392 USD$. Shipping a bit more expensive too.

Good deal. If anyone in Houston wants just the front, I would be interested in the rear sway. I already have the M5 front sway installed.

I have not installed it yet since I do not want to go to the shop just for that since they usually do not like when you bring your stuff. I want to combine it with some repairs or at least an oil change which I am not due until maybe 2000 miles.

Hello all,

Sorry it took a while to finally take an appointment to get them installed. The install time at my IND BMW specialist was less than 1 hours for the 2 bars which cost me around 65 $CAD.
I haven't had much time to do a lot of test but so far I am impressed with the results. I am currently running H&R bars, H&R spring with stock non-sport shock, Winter wheel setup (OEM Msport 19" with Blizzak LM001). My observation:
  • Car corner A LOT FLATTER
  • No noticeable increase in ride harshness (low / high speed)
  • Car response much better to input.
  • Gives more road feel (I mean now you will be able to know your tire limit in curves, before turning fast was so scary and I would slide on my seat that I would have never feel how the tires were reacting)

Today I took a curve on wet pavement and winter tires and it felt more confident vs my summer tire on dry pavement before the H&R bar. Anxious to see how it will be with my summers on.

I believe now I can say I like this car for the first time. I never liked how the car was acting during highway lane change or spirited driving involving curves.

If you are a car enthusiast get those, one of the best mod you can do for the money.
