I wouldn't use rubbing alcohol, it's not real effective on wax. Instead use something like Goo Gone, Simple Green, even Windex. Something non abrasive that can remove grease, grime and wax.

More important than clean is to remove any wax that may have been applied. Wax will not allow the double sided tape to adhere correctly. Also, wax is much more difficult to remove than dirt.

It should, and it's non abrasive, so those are pluses. I attached my spoiler on my car after cleaning the area well with Simple Green, heck, I would think even Stoners Invisible Glass would work, it does great at removing road grime from windows.

i just use Dawn or what ever dishwashing soap to strip the wax/sealers then some rubbing alcohol.

Should feel tacky after you are done. Attach the spoiler, then polish/wax/glaze/seal or whatever combo you use to detail around the spoiler as you will obviously be taking the wax off more area than just where the spoiler is going.

I'm pretty sure I used the following link for my rear spoiler on my BMW and my C300 I had for three years. Not a single issue. Just make sure when you put it on, its perfect the first time because once its on, its a pain to take off.

So, another question about the rear spoilers is do you have any issues with water pooling behind it?

Had some sprinklers hit my rear deck lid one time and the water pooled on the deck at the back edge
(trunk lid has that lip that prevents it from running off when parked) and with the hard water from so cal , it was a bitc% to rub out the lines that were left after the sun came out and dried the water.

Seems like the spoiler would make that issue worse.....but they look cool, especially the ones that are painted to match the car

all the time it freakin' rains! but when i drive the pooling comes off. i have the 3d style spoiler so i'm not sure about the guys with the Vorsteiners, M5 or other spoilers? i have a drying towel in my trunk for days like that when i have to park outside when i'm out and about. but usually when i get home since i have a garage now as soon as i pull in i'll wipe the trunk down. but yes, it's a bird bath had a couple of dry lines but because i have the car treated with Chemical Guy's JetSeal, BlackLight and ButterWet wax it rubs right off

here's when i did the BetaLink. i had to use some weights in the blue bag to keep the trunk down along with a crap load of painters tape to keep the spoiler compressed.

and finished
